However, if the Toffees rivals from Anfield were to come calling, Ireland would almost certainly jump at the chance to join Roy Hodgson’s new lineup.

So can we take it Barca are interested in him too cos if Barcelona were to come calling Ireland would jump at the chance to join them?

Can you please print a story on how Fantana could be in line for a move to Liverpool? Ta

He is an @rsehole and a lunatic. Is Houllier even picking him?

Another centre mid - we could nearly field a team of centre mids as is without him.

Spearing Meireles Lucas Shelvey

Cole Poulsen Gerrard Aquilani

That's gas , funny how they twist this into him having a chance at signing for Liverpool. Two years ago he was on top form and if he could hit that kinda form again he would be a good addition. Shame he appears to be such a knob head

He was such a talent for club and (when he played) country. Its a pity that he is such an NUTTER. He is a guy that knows how to burn bridges. No matter what, it will all end in tears when Stevie Ireland is around. Its a real shame .............. but fcuk i, i would take him in a heart beat (if he was on pay-for-play) !!

An awful bell end, and normally i wish ireland boys to do well, once it's not against us or for the mancs, but not this fella.

Having said that he was great for city under hughes not sure why he's not producing anymore.

If he joins liverpool it would be tragic , i don't want him near our club . I couldn't honestly support a bell end like him . For the love of god we could a whole lot better then signing him

If only, this guy is class and exactly what we need CREATIVITY.

Not getting into another defense of Ireland but people believe way too much of the utter garbage printed in the press.

Based on what? What did he do at City or Villa for you to say that.

He is injured at the moment for whoever was asking.

Not the first international player to leave his country, plus I would imagine loads of fans would love players not playing international football (ala Torres).

"Dogs in the street" really sums up all you know about this lad - nothing.

He's not a bad player....if he could control his mood swings and his attitude he would be a savage addition to the team....his passin when he is on form is world class and he scores goals from nothin really....that's just my two cents

Do you

A. Go straight to your chairman and beg for the funds to buy the player.

B. Consider the implications of signing a talented player, but that has some mental problems.

C. Turn a blind eye cos tis all bullsh1t anyway.

I go with C all day long.

No no no no no!!!! Why does this team need yet another central midfielder? We lack width and could do with either a left or right winger. Probably would have been viable before miereles was bought.

We have Aquilani out on loan. Why we'd sign a fruitcake like Ireland and let Aquilani go permanently is beyond comprehension.
