Just back from Toyota dealers who were looking at my car , got a quote saying I need a Cat Converter and an ECU over €2000 Does anybody know anything about them? How long can I drive it before it packs up, Car is '03..
majority of ecus cost a grand plus cat converter in around 300. an ecu is basically the brain of a car, a toyota Dealership will be more expensive than an independant garage as there cost of labour is higher i can recomend garages to get it done if you want
Try the breakers for an ecu, I had to get one for a mercedes sprinter and mercedes were 2200e and I got one for 500e. Traynors up the north would be your best bet
Try posting in something like this for help - http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/ I'm in an equivalent Nissan one and it's very good for tips and advice.
Question for any Mechanics here, my car failed the NCT today for the brake lines/hoses which is corroded. I had a pre NCT test done and am just wondering should they have picked up on this, and any idea how much to fix this.
Pre-NCT is a massive waste of money, might aswell put it through the real thing and let the NCT crowd tell you what's wrong... It's an easy enough fix, probably around €50-€70 to get it done somewhere...
never do a pre test test waste of money. the brake lines are not a big job depends on which ones are marked if its the flexi pipes you can buy them at any parts shops if its the ridgid steel pipes you can take them off and any decent motor part shop will make them up for you
Ya I know waste of money but I knew that there were a few issues with the car and would had failed them so needed to get them fixed, and was nearly a year since it was serviced, good to know that it may not be a major issue, cheers.
That switch is in the overflow tank you may have a leak so you need to watch the temp gauge if the engine is getting hot stop and top up I would get it checked out fairly soon
