Just signed it there. Its scary to think how far we have fallen in 2 n half years and cutting the state pension is something that could be seriously looked at .
So the people who carried this country through the troubles and the recession in the 80's are being targeted its only a matter of time before it all kicks off
Yup. As far as I'm concerned, there's a line you do not cross, and that's anything that adversely affects the youth and elderly of a country. Disgraceful to even be considered implementing such cuts.
Done. Horrifying to think that decent people who have done honest work all their lives would be denied because of the actions of people who took everything they could get out of our pockets like Fitzpatrick, Callaley and Drumm. On a lighter note, hope they had a few hot toddies standing by for these guys after filming this ad.
Done,Talking with me oul feller yesterday,he's been working for 50 odd years and now he is almost afraid to retire, make ya sick they would.
The country is close to bankruptcy so if we don't cut it now we could genuinely be looking at the IMF getting involved pretty soon, noone wants to see their pensions etc cut but there's no choice now because the damage is done. Widescale cuts are necessary now otherwise it's good night Vienna.
While this petition is an important one, I seriously hope you guys are not solely depending on the state pension to fund your retirement.... If you are, then have a look at this (best viewed, while sitting down ) .... http://www.pensionsboard.ie/en/Pensions_Calculators/Simple_Pensions_Calculator.html Granted, there are very good arguments both for and against the investment of money into a pension, where the fund managers go off and invest it into shares in companies you never wanted to invest in, but there are other options once you've invested in your pension (including government bonds, cash, gold and other resources etc). No matter what you've to cut back on, you'd be extremely well advised to consider starting a private pension fund if you've not already got one and do keep in mind, you can get an immediate tax break on contributions you make into your pension fund (up to a significant maximum sum) - granted, these allowances may be reduced in the next budget, but at present they are applied at your highest rate of income tax. BTW, for the record - I've not vested interest here, I'm not a pension salesman or working for any of the life companies.
