Keep doing what you're doing in this competition Roy, rest a few of the big boys, give a few of the fringe players some games and a few of the young fellas. Will Kuyt be ready to get a bit of game time ahead of Chelsea? Don't forget there are three premier league games in a week after this with a midweek game next week so I wouldn't like too many first teamers to play this one. League has to come first.

What you's will find lads, is that wins provide confidence. 2 wins on the bounce now against 'tricky' opposition, another win against these horrible Italian knack bags, will set us up nicely for Chelsea on Sunday IMO.
Chelsea were very bad against blackburn and blackburn defo should have scored more than 1 goal, so there is reason for optimisim. That, and the fact that the game is at home.

    Come on the reds!

Agreed that Nando should play some part, he really needs to find his shooting boots and Chelsea won't be the game to do it!

I'd play a reasonably strong team with a good mix of experience and youth, keep the winning streak going!

With it been a home game id like to see him get at least 45 Min's but have to keep Sunday's game in mind imo.

But wont be disappointed if N'gog starts up front also needs games imo.

A lot of fringe players need games imo if fit.

    ------------------------------Reina

    -Kelly-----------------Kyrgiakos------Skrtel---------------Aurelio

    -----------------------------Poulsen

    -----Babel-------------------Shelvey---------------Pacheco

    ---------------------Jovanovic--------Ngog

Game will suit Poulsen this time as Italian opposition .

Changed my formation from 4-2-3-1 to 4-1-3-2 ... dropped spearing to accommodate it with Pacheco coming in on the left and Jovanovic playing upfront

Wouldn't mind us playing the same system with our best players with 2 strikers up front and Gerrard behind to support.

Leave Nando out of this. He knows where the back of the Chelsea net is, if he gets any chances on Sunday he'll bury them.

Pepe in goal, 10 reserves in front of him. Napoli are shite, although it will be one of those famed magical european nights if we beat them i nil.

Think we should ntry out a 442 in this game.

    Reina(c)
    Kelly Skrtel Soto Aurelio
    Maxi Shelvey Spearing Babel
    Torres Ngog

Personally don't think Poulsen brings anything to the table that Spearing and Shelvey don't offer except an experienced head but they have to earn that somehow. Torres and Ngog did well together on Sunday so lets se have we got a partnership in the making. On the bench I'd have:

Jones Carra Wilson Mereles Gerrard Jovanovic Pacheco

Would love to see a mix of experience & youth in this because if we get the win we're looking very good for topping the group.

    Pepe
    Kelly Carra Skrtel Aurelio
    Pacheco Poulsen Shelvey Jovanovic
    Ngog Babel

I would start the game with 11 players who will not be starting on Sunday.
Game is not important IMO, we will qualify anyway. Bigger games to come and need everyone fresh from Sunday.

I'd play the full team and try to finish Napoli off and more or less qualify and then play a weakened team away to the Romanian team. Surely these guys can play 2 games in 4 days at this stage of the season.

We're at home and we're no where in the league so to be honest I'm not sure what Hodgson is doing all this resting for in the first place.

I will be very surprised if Roy does not rest many of the senior players. He will only be thinking of Chelsea. However it will still be a mistake if this tie is not taken seriously.

I hope Johnjo Shelvey and Martin Kelly and David N'Gog starts. Fernando should be kept on the bench.

It might also be no harm if Jovanovic got another game.

If you are to prioritise the league (which I think we should) it's not 2 matches in 4 days, it's 4 matches in ten days. Napoli thurs, Chelsea Sun, Wigan wed, Stoke sat. I only play twice a week with a bunch of lads and feel it the next day, I love the hardy lads who say they should have no bother playing at the top level more than twice a week. Nice way to get a multi-million pound player ****ed if you ask me. What's the point of having a squad then, let's have a squad of 14 and play them every match.

Yeah, and the players used to go drinking after the match too. That was 20 years ago, it's hardly even the same game anymore.
