Just throwing this out there lads. I put on the odd home poker tourney, but they are few and far between nowadays as my mates don't have the interest I do. I haven't been playing much at all now for some time, and am sick of online poker. There's nothing like the feel of the cards, the chips riffling through your fingers, and staring down your opponent :) I'm not a big cash game fan either.

Anyway, my proposal would be that if any serious(ish) players were interested, how about trying something like an alternating monthly home tournament. So one month I would host it, next month someone else did, and so on around to me again. If people were really interested and it became regular, we could add bad beat jackpots, do points awards and have an "end of season" tourney with stacks based on overall perfomance, and so on!!

So, here's what I have (which I'm barely using now):

    - 10 seater round poker table with green felt centre, racetrack, aluminium cups, and leather padded rests.
    - About 800 11.5g chips.
    - I normally only play with Kems or Copags.
    - Self written poker tournament manager that is fairly comprehensive.
    - Card shuffler/cut cards/dealer buttons.
    - I've written a full rule document some years ago based on Robert's Rules Of Poker.

    ====

I play the following structure (I'm not saying this is right, but it provides a nice long tourney with plenty of play, perhaps 6-8 hours):

The Game: No Limit Hold ‘Em.

Type: Single Table Rebuy Tournament (10 max).

    Buyin: €20 = $2000 chips.

    Rebuys: (2 - available until level 8): €20 = $2500.

    Add-ons: (1 - available at "big break" at end of level 8): €20 = $3000.

    Level Length: 25 mins.

Structure (Level / Small Blind / Big Blind):

    1. 20 / 40.
    2. 25 / 50.
    3. 40 / 80.
    4. 50/ 100.
    5. 75/ 150.
    6. 100 / 200.
    7. 150 / 300.
    8. 200 / 400.
    9. 250 / 500.
    10. 300 / 600.
    11. 400 / 800.
    12. 500 / 1000.
    13. 600 / 1200.
    14. 700 / 1400.
    15. 800 / 1600.
    16. 1000 / 2000.

Payout (Place / Percentage of final pot):

    1. 50%.
    2. 30%.
    3. 20%.

    ====

I try to setup a game for poker players, and put a good bit of effort into organising it. Anyway, just throwing it out there :) Would anyone like a regular game? Would it be a goer or too much work?

    I'd be up for that.

I usually use the same rules minus the buy ins, usually have about 3 2hour games. If your knocked out in a game like that your just throwing good money after bad or else you watch 5 hours of poker and lets be honest its not much of a spectator sport.

Anyway I will play what ever is agreed and offer up my humble adobe when the time comes.

Like the idea of splitting into a few tourneys Bobby. Good thinking.

If I wasn't in the other side of the country I would be interested, best of luck with it!
Personally I much prefer Freeze outs and having the blinds structured for about a 3-4hr game. Nice set up you have all the same.

I'm actually exactly the same mate - I prefer freezeouts as well. My game evolved to include rebuys because someone could just get busted early and that's it. That's why I think Bobbys idea is a good one.

I would be interested, have a bit of a home game thing going with my mates but with some been out of work etc etc they are getting less and less.We normally just have a few 20 euro frezeouts a night, you may get 2/3 in.This is better as if you have one bad beat and are out it can be a bit of a pain if you are after traveling.

Really taking to the idea of playing a few freezeouts.

Okay, we'll see how the interest goes guys and all being good if we can get enough for full-ring (or thereabouts) I'll do a pilot night.
