GP done a full blood works , due to feeling tired even when I'm eating well , exercising , plenty of water .. Basically tried everything to see why I'm constantly getting headaches and feeling tired 24/7 . Blood test came back with 2 things Vitamin B12 was very low . But most Significant ,the Doctor said i have a wheat Allergy and the level it was out , he said i was doing well just to do the normal things ... Looking for any advice on wheat based foods to avoid from anyone with any knowledge on the topic ... or any advice { IE foods to eat} 1.Bread 2.Pasta 3.Pizza 4.Cakes 5.Chow mein 6.Most cereals
thats sucks sorry to hear that it becoming more and more common, tesco do a huge range now i food thats wheat free. also mate sorry to break it to ya but it also rules out beer
Back on the blumers {GPs advice }...... this got a lot worse when i switched to lager about 2 years back over heart burn , always drank blumers since 17.
yeah drink it myself and the heart burns starting to kick in theres alot more stuff out there and if you go up north sainsburys do a large range also. the rice pasta is alright so is rice noodles ya can get them in asian shops. with regards to the B12 thing i had that last year could of injections and i was ok, basicall if your low on B12 then you can absorb iron which means your anemic and that in turn means no energy either
Going to give up the wheat products , and do the course of 5 injections and see how it goes .... Shouldn't be feeling wrecked 24/7 , even when living like a monk ..
my other half had low b12 awhile ago constantly feeling tired she got those injections and it really helped her
Mate is the feeling tired bit to do with the wheat allergy or the low B12? Im constantly tired ( im up every morning at 6:30 and travel from Gorey to dublin for work 5 days a week ) but i get a good 6 - 7 hours a night most nights but im constantly wrecked. If its the wheat allergy i might try cut out some and see if that helps.
it can be either bout have the same effects so you could try cutting out wheat but no harm in going doc gettin tests done
Mixture of both ...... said b12 tablets don't always work as hard for your body to break down...... so injections are the best 1 a week for 5 weeks then blood test 1 month later and go from there ..
I was the same,feeling wrecked all the time.I cut wheat out of my diet for 3 weeks and I did feel better but not a whole lot,so the next step was to cut all gluten from my diet and since I've done that the change has been dramatic. I haven't had any gluten in about 6 weeks now and I have no intention of going back..
thankfully no headaches just tiredness Superfan please do explain? what sort of foods would i need to cut out for this?
Gluten is in wheat,barley,oats and rye. I hardly ever ate barley but I would've ate a lot of oats (porridge every morning) and wheat (sandwiches,pasta,noodles,pizza) and when I cut wheat out I was eating rye bread. Took a couple of weeks to get used to it but I honestly don't miss it now,I do miss beer though..
cheers .... actually feeling a bit more energetic this morning probably the B12 injection and a bit physiological knowing the cause of my tiredness and no wheat in the last 24 hours.{Wheat}
That sucks man. Wheat is in a lot of stuff but you'll figure it out over the next few weeks. You can get gluten free breads, cereals, pasta, sausages (actually gluten free sausages are tasty) etc. Farmers markets (and the English market in Cork) are great for finding tasty wheat-free foods. Health food shops are good too for that kind of thing too but some of those shops can be pricey.
Some people can't eat any gluten at all,it really fcuks them up if they do. I read the back of everything I eat now,if it says "contains gluten" i'll avoid it but if it only has traces of gluten I'll eat it and I seem to get away with it..
Going to give it 6 weeks and See how i get on .... GP just texted and said next week when im getting the 2ND B12 injection he will do a gluten test ... Hope thats clear ...
The blood test for gluten/ celiac isn't 100% reliable, 2 of the wifes sisters have celiac and were negative for bloods. There is loads of gluten free stuff out there apparently lots of doesn't taste great but you can get biccies pasta bread etc . theres usually an aisle for speciality stuff in dunnes/tescos some brands that they use are Genius Gluten Free Glutenfreeda Foods, Kelkin do some stuff too I think good luck with it
