So the next league game is upon us. We need to get a result and keep the return to form going. I think it'll be a tough test. Megson seems to have got the bite back into the Bolton team again. Was great to see them beat ManUre last time round, but we should come through this with the 3 points. Lets hope the team selection is a good one... I can't help but get scary images of Sissoko in the midfield for this one. Surely Kewell will start, and maybe Riise will be given a run too.
Does anyone know if Gutherie is available for this match? or am I right in thinking he cant play against his own club? Great to see him getting on really well there. Some good Premiership experience for the lad.
Also, does anyone know if its on TV?

Thankfully Danny Guthrie cannot play, I have been impressed by what I have seen of him so its good news!
Will Rafa start Torres? He has played 90 minutes now twice in the space of 5 days, we dont have a game next week so I wouldnt rest him.
My team would be -
Reina
Finnan Carra Agger (if fit) Aurelio
Benayoun Gerrard Lucas Kewell
Torres Crouch
We need some good deliveries from Aurelio for Crouchie, he has a wonderful left foot and should be maximised when Crouch is playing.

Nolan and Hunt are also suspended for Bolton, they will be a big loss.
Worryingly for us, with Man United only 2 games away, Carragher is only 1 yellow card away from suspension.
It's on TV ok but if you know a place with any of these

Nolan and Hunt will be a big loss for them it's a pity though that diouf and Anelka(who I'd love to see come in for Voronin) were rested on Thurs. Anybody know if the Tram have got it.
A win here puts us ahead of the Mancs:) and with Arsenal having a tough away game to an in-form Villa, hopefully a good weekend ahead

tough game. I expect a crouch and kuyt partnership and maybe momo in midfield if we can accommodate his passing, he tackled well against newcastle but his distribution wasn't great.

another tough game bolton playing well and anelka is always a danger
i wonder if agger is fit and if so will rafa play him nothing against sami he has been playing well
torres and crouch up front for me but dont think it will happen the two of those like to stay high up the pitch and rafa seems to like one of his front 2 to track back so id say it will be kuyt and torres
a must win but evert game is if we want a chance of a championship in may

really hope Agger's fit for this one,if not for the Reading Game at least.the sooner the better.he's vitally important for the Marseille Game(i fear the worst if Sami is Playing that Night...)so would like to see him have at least 1 Game under his Belt before that.
it'll be a big Psychological boost if they can turn this lot over, especially after them beating the Mancs last Week.

Steve Bennett is the ref on sunday. This is his first Liverpool game of the season.
He has refereed a visit of Bolton to Anfield once before. Liverpool ran out 1-0 winners thanks to an Igor Biscan last minute header in April 2005.
One thing you must expect though is a card of one colour being shown by Bennett, his last Premiership match without a caution or dismissal was way back in November 2004 - over 70 games ago. He has also gone five successive seasons reaching over 100 cautions in each season.
Id settle for a same result as when igor headed in that winner, never seen the ball in the air at anfield as much as that day!!!!

after a great and determined win on wed, hope rafa dosnt return to his rotation ways. never thought voronin shud have started. he just isnt gud enough to be playing for the pool. i have a sneaking suspicion that he will rest torres to play his other strikers and the amount of minutes crouch is getting at the moment, i just hope he starts on sunday. i have no hope when i see kuyt and voronin in the starting eleven. all that means is loads of chances and very few, if any goals. id love to see rafa play crouch and torres in a big game. agger and alonso are still out so hopefully keep the same back four and Big H harry kewell and beni (still not convinced but no1 else) on the wings with gerrard and monstermash in the middle. if we play to our strengths and supply torres with quality ball, theres no excuses except for a comfortable victory. go on the pool!

Very convincing. Reading next league game and another 3points expected there. Would be great to continue this form for the Utd fixture, thats the big test. What happened to JC? Did he get a knock?
RedMurph08

Great performance, cant knock any of the lads today ( even Riise)!
Torres is something else, Rafa has really got them ticking now and i dont fear anyone. I for 1 have been a big critic of Harry Kewell but i really hope he keeps up his performances and pushes on to better ones, its like a new signing. These were the type of games that were our downfall in recent seasons but i think with Torres in our side week in week out there aint a defence in europe thats safe! YNWA

great game 3 points in the bag. i hope rafa brings babal on when we are ahead in games. because when he starts . its understandable its his first year .id say he feel alot of pressure on his shoulders when he starts a game. but when we are winning comforable he comes in and u can see the abilty he has . another thing i hope el hag duffuzz gets his 2 legs broken in games comeing up. the challange on arbeloa was dirty. he should have been sent off. can,t belive he used play 4 us. carra is the only worry in my head right now. id say it was the clash with riena. but overall yes yes yes 2 the mancs and arses were hunting and hunting good;)

Well deserved win. Good for all the players to be knockin in goals. Keeps the confidence going. Would have liked to have seen Crouchie grab one.
No broken bones shown up on Carra's x-ray anyway.
Sweet result, wonder how things might have turned out if Anelka didn't miss that sitter. Thank Chirst nothing serious has come out of Carra coming off today, imagine if he was to miss the next few weeks

Great wun, well impressed with Lucas and Kewell. Torres is different class. It could have been a different story if Anelka had scored.

Terrific result, albeit against a Bolton side who haven't won back to back games in the Prem for over 20 matches.... Anyway, looking forward to watching MOTD2 tonight to see the goals and watch Gavin "the twat" Peacock wax lyrical about how good Torres is....

great to see that we are not just settling for the 1 or 2 goals like last year - scoring for fun now and conceding few which has to be a great confidence boost right through the team.should be another 3 pts next weekend b4 we take on the scum which should set us up nicely over the chrimpo - be nice for a draw in the other grand slam sunday game - things are coming together nicely.

I was at the game yesterday. We were seriously poor in the first half but the goal on half-time knocked the stuffing out of them.
Bolton are p*ss poor but we really kicked on second half and could have scored a few more. I though Lucas was outstanding, getting better with every game he plays.
Great win in the end.
anybody got a non youtube clip of the Hypia and Torres goals.?

I think stevie G is enjoying playing with Torres. Great again yesterday. Not since the days of mickey owen have I seen him slip so many neat through balls into the channels, and it worked a treat for us.
Torres is a class act...obviously, but I was very encourages by Lucas, who, to my mind is as neat a passer as there is in the premiership. If he continues to get games, he could push Xabi for a place.
Harry was dangerous, though at times should have given a quicker ball to Torres, but you have to expect him to be rusy, gave us natural width though.
Big up to Riise, a good game, god knows he needed it.

Confidence is flowing through the team...it has to be. Next few weeks will be interesting. I feel if we are doing well come the end of January the title can be won.
9 Games(League):
Reading (away)
Utd(home)
Pompey(home)
Derby(away)
Man City(away)
Wigan(home)
Boro(away)
Villa(home)
West Ham(away)
Great win! Torres is class! Lets just see what team he plays next week! No need to change a team dramatically when we played like that

From this vantage point, I'd be pretty confident of winning all the home games. Its the away games that will have alot to say about whether we really are the real thing as regards title challengers, or still short that extra player or two to push us on. Some particularly difficult ones in there - Derby will be more organised under Paul Jewell and certainly won't be anything like the team we played in December! Man City, Boro and West Ham have never been charitable places to go to either so will be interesting to see how we get on.

At the same time as realising there will be alot of difficult games, there;s not a single game there where I don;t think we could defo win that. Last season it was maybe 'if we get a draw there I;d be happy enough', now it's a much more confident feeling all round.

Great win over the weekend, we're back on track now again and confidence must be high. Delighted Sami scored, and Riise played well. That's what we need is the whole squad playing well when they're called upon. Lets push on now and step it up another gear.
I havent seen this on any other thread yet, but the Diouf is one dirty b@5t@rd. He could have broked Arbeloa's leg and should have got a straight red. How did he ever get to sign a contract with us. I remember him spitting on the Celtic fans in Anfield... that was the end of him for me.

was it celtic park? i just remember someone patting him on the head and then he spat on them... then they all tried to cover it up by saying that a pat on the head is seen as an insult in his country and that's why he reacted - i vaguely remember him at it again shortly after that at a home game... i might be wrong though
