    Hey all,

I have a problem and was hoping I could get some help. Any help would be so much appreciated.

My younger bro who has a form of autism is 18 on Wednesday and always believed when u turn 18 you get a party coz that’s what myself and my older sis had (seams like that was a lifetime ago). We finally found a pub that would do the 18th last Friday but none of his friends were allowed in as they were under 18 and we had to abandon it and he just went home. He was absolutely devestated, as were we seeing him that way and promised him we would try find somewhere else.

As he has the form of autism he is a year or two behind in school so his friends are mostly 16/17 and would not be allowed into a pub. He himself has no interest in drinking so it does not really matter if a place we got did not serve alcohol. We would be looking for anywhere in the Dun Laoghaire/Stillorgan area, perhaps just a small function room (40 people or so) that is not too costly.

Would anyone have any ideas of anywhere that would allow us have his 18th whether there was alcohol served to just the adults or no alcohol served at all it doesn’t matter.

Really need some help on this so would really appreciate any input, thanks :)

You'd have to ring the pubs and explain it to them and ask them, I am sure most would be accomodating. Also local GAA clubs or rugby clubs would definitely allow it.

You should try Community centres. If your not interested in drink that would be a ideal spot as it would have a big dance floor, and also space for a DJ or a Band to set up.Also you wouldnt have to worry about under age drinking really, as there would be no drink there.they might be able to help you.

Most Pubs wont touch a 18th, because they are so much hassles with under age drinking, and with ID and there is usually trouble at them. Not saying your Party is going to be trouble.

Yea that is great I will try find out where there are Gaa/Rugby/Community centres around. Thanks a mil for that. It would probably be better if there was no drink I suppose so there would be no underage drinking but then I wouldnt be able to have a drink to help me to cope with having to listen to 30/40 teenagers :)

I had my 21st in Kilmacud Crokes (beside Stillorgan Shopping centre)...

That wasn't today or yesterday though :D, so not sure they still hire out the hall?

You could try them though. You could also try Cuala in Dalkey, another GAA club that hire out their hall.

Most of those GAA clubs don't mind hhaving youngsters around, as they have loads of young members in their clubs.
