Coverage of the Bathurst 1000km is about to start shortly. This Motorace in my opinion is the greatest of them all. As good a race as the Monaco GP, the Indy 500 or the 24 hours of Le Mans or Spa. I hope I can stay awake. Channel 413 on Sky

Had a bit of snooz time earlier. 100 laps down 61 laps to go. It looks like a Holden victory. Sensational camera work. I am going to watch to the finish then the Japanese GP.
Some crash for Fabian Coultard on the 1st lap,the car disintegrated after hitting the sandpit sideways and sommersaulting 6 times,he got out not a scratch. The camerawork was mind blowing,F1 doesnt come close to the high octance of Touring Cars especially the way the Ozzies cover it,thrill a minute stuff.
The Channel 7 CSI team were on the case and within an hour the reason for his car crashing was found out.His rear left tyre blew out and the reason was at the start a car stalled in front of him a few cars got close to each other with Coulthards car getting struck by another. The faring of the other car caught the air valve on Coulthards car damaging it so air was leaking out, with so much pressure on the tyre as it was softening going into the bend it blew out causing him to lose control, brilliant stuff.

It's all public road on Mt. Panorama in New South Wales, Paddy. There are people's driveways entrances all over the place on the track. I love watching it but will need to get some kip earlier tonight if I have any chance of staying awake as it will probably last around 6 hours. It's 1000km which is 161 laps of the track. Each car has two drivers. The annual race started in the 1960's.
