Anything AVG based is sound. Have always used AVG and kept it up to date. I have never had any issues. (fingers crossed for tempting faith)

I added links yesterday? or so I thought.
AVG is not worth the effort IMO. Eset Smart Security is the one to get.
I added links for that yesterday, but they have been removed.

All i use is AVG and Advast. Run a scheduled scan every week. Laptop in perfect working order and it has been through all types of websites. Between these software, it will block access to some sites that may potentially have a virus, and will stop corrupt limewire downloads. If you want to see what is comming into your computer you can use zonealarm but i dont think their is a need.
I would also recomend using google chrome or mozilla firefox instead of microsofts internet explorer (even though im using microsoft now :o)

Do you have to pay for AVG and Advast mate?

I have anti-virus software on my PC and use Internet Explorer, but it can be very slow sometimes so I have a feeling there are corrupt files making their way onto it!

No there free. And update virus database themselves.

Google chrome and mozilla are free aswell.

I would also recommend to defragment harddrive ocasionally and to run Disk clean up. These can be found in the System tools under accesories.

Just a word of warning.
I recently clicked on a link which was supposed to lead me to pics of Liverpool tattoos ( I think it was on a "Yahoo Answers" page) but instead Internet Explorer immediately closed down and then my laptop shutdown + restarted all by itself. I noticed a few small changes when it restarted so thinking I had a virus I ran a full scan with AVG. It found nothing but I was sure there was something wrong. I was advised to use BitDefender so I installed that, ran a scan and it found a keylogging virus:eek: I'd used AVG for years thinking I was safe but if I hadnt changed to BitDefender somebody would still be logging my passwords/credit card details.
I didnt download it legally so I cant post a link to it.

If your Virus protector was about to expire soon would you

A. Renew your subscription for about €50

B. Download a free one that works like a free one

C. Download Norton from a friend of a friend

Its the best one ever made, the people who develop Norton, McAffee and even Microsoft use this to protect their software labs. I use it, and I can click on any pop up, and safely have no worries of getting a virus or an attack. You will need to get it and then get whats called "box forever" it basically keeps your trial of it running forever, so it never ends, that way you can download the software trial from the officail site, you get full benefits for 31 days for free including updates etc, so which box forever this gives you unlimited use.

My windows security centre is saying antivirus software can't be found on this computer, yet I have Norton Antivirus. In the next section under 'spyware and other malware protection' it says norton antivirus is turned on. Any ideas as to why it's not picking up Norton in relation to the anitvirus protection?

Kielo

Maybe because Norton is shite :P

Get something better, AVG... ESET... McAffee, basically anything but norton

This is not anti-virus. But is very useful set of links that can help people who don't quite grasp the internet, Or people who are mentally, visually or phisically impaired use the internet to help them. It might be useful for some peoples relatives or friends.
