WARNING: THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS GRAPHIC IMAGES WHICH SOME READERS MAY FIND DISTURBING: A young dog has become one of the early victims of Halloween savagery, after its jaw was blown off when thugs apparently stuck a lit firework into its mouth. Gardai are now trying to track down a group of youths behind the horrific incident which happened on Cardiffsbridge Road in Finglas, Dublin, about 6.30pm on Wednesday. The small tan terrier, believed to be two or three years old, was probably somebody's pet, the DSPCA believes. Operations manager Orla Aungier said it was difficult to judge the the dog's age because of the damage to its mouth. All its teeth were blown out. "The female dog was in good body weight and appeared to be somebody's pet, but we still do not know who the owner is." Horrified members of the public began ringing gardai and the society around the same time on Wednesday night. When a DSPCA inspector got to the scene gardai had managed to contain the dog. "The entire bottom jaw was blown off. There was no bone left. It was just pulp. The injuries were horrific. She lost a huge amount of blood. Deliberate "She was taken to our veterinary surgeon who was on standby. There was no alternative but to put it to sleep," said Ms Aungier. "It is deeply concerning particularly if it was a deliberate act. It is alleged that the fire work was put in its mouth. Our inspector took about seven quick calls from gardai and people looking for help. He was told the firework was put in the dog's mouth." "We are in shock and appalled. It also highlights the danger of fireworks being so easily available, even though they are illegal. "We are appealing to anyone that has any information to contact the gardai or the DSPCA." Pics are awful so not going to post them http://www.independent.ie/multimedia/archive/00686/dog2_indo_686045t.jpg http://www.independent.ie/multimedia/archive/00686/dog1_indo_686043t.jpg That is just downright evil!!
Dirty cnuts! I'm probably going to sound harsh here and I don't know all the details in this case but if that dog had been kept on a lead it wouldn't have happened. I see it all the time, dogs being left to ramble around on their own. I've a couple of dogs meself and I'd never let them out by themselves, especially this time of year. doesn't excuse what they did though..
Eye for an eye, catch the p**ks and do the exact same to them. Any kind of animal cruelty should be seen in the same light and deserve the same punishments as an attack on a child. Utter scum whoever did it.
Absolutely sickened to hear that. It's unbelievable what some people will do and I use the term loosely.Unfortunately it happens too often at this time of year by mindless idiots.
Larry Murphy couldnt inflict the punishment that cnut deserves. Slap on the wrist and €200 fine on the way for whoever did it. I'd love to hold him down and stick a fire work in his mouth and a rocket up his hole.
Makes me sick, the poor dog. I can't understand what type of people would regard this as entertainment, I just can't get my head around it.
Little fvckin scvmbags...........................id love to get hold of them and beat the fvckin sh1te out of them
Not going to look at those pictures. The pain and terror that poor dog has suffered are unimaginable.
I hate cruelty to animals..It takes big man to hurt a animal that cant defend itself.. Wonder who he would feel if a group of 4 or 5 lads around 6 foot set upon him..
thats the thing these "men" are brilliant at preying on the defensless, I would love to catch the pricks involved and see how tough they really are.
Awful story...The problem stems from the fact that our laws are not tight enough to deal with these situations...even severe cases of animal cruelty go without any serious penalties. If there were high fines / jail time handed out to culprits, i'd suspect that we'd see a little less of this...
Sick little ****s. They say that showing cruelty to animals is a very bad sign in someones make up and they will grow to show curelty to other people. One small glimmer of hope is I was chatting to a buddys dad who was out walking with a couple friends last halloween when they saw a group IN THEIR LATE TEENS trying to do something similar to a cat, they went and rescued the cat and gave the "hard men" something to remember.Needless to say they never looked twice at a cat again.
I couldn't bring myself to reply here nor could I open the original piece - I don't want to see it. My wife and I will sometimes holiday specifically to see animals etc (we finally done a dream safari in South Africa last year). I would agree that anyone who takes pleasure from the misery of an animal has serious problems. I hope that the law gets stricter in this country, leading to serious jail time for offenders. In the UK already things are getting better, for example last month a man was jailed for 30 months for smuggling rare peregrine falcon eggs. Hopefully we will one day learn to share the planet, not to think we have a right to destroy everything on it.
It's scary to think what kind of sick fcuks get their kicks out of this... how the fcuk do people get like this? Fcuking firework into the front of their trackas is what they need, spare the gene pool of any more of their scum.
