I was just looking at a few stats tonight involving Liverpool against Romanian opposition.

Liverpool played FC Petrolul Ploiesti on the 19th October 1966 in a neutral venue in Brussels and beat them 2-0. That season the away goals counts double rule did not apply. If the away goals rule was in force Liverpool would have won the two legged tie already because Roger Hunt scored away in Romania.

Is this the last time that Liverpool played a competitive European match at a neutral venue besides the Cup Finals the Super Cup and World Club Competition and the match against Maccabi Haifa in the Ukraine that was moved because of the Israel conflict at the time?

We were pretty close to having to play Atletico Madrid at a neutral venue the season before last
