Thanks for the messages! Ye the World Cup Qualifier was on last week and I won it so I am off to Toulon, France from October 15-24 to play in the QUBICA AMF World Cup. Every country has a qualifier and send 1 male and 1 female to participate in the showcase event. I have played in World Championships and European Championships aswell as Triple Crowns but of course the big one is the World Cup itself. The official entry has to go in by tomorrow Sept 15th so I am on the phone today trying to sort a few things out to make sure I am there. As for fundraising Gerry I may try get a sponsor card or something done up so I can try raise a few quid before the event.
Congrats Mate, nice to represent your country! I did it in lawn bowling a few years back Bit less strenuous! Is there not a governing body who provide you with funds to represent Ireland at these things? Or do the sports council not give grants etc? Anyway, good luck!!
Thanks for the message. The latest I have found out is that the Irish Tenpin Bowling Association have no funds available but the tournament organisers will subsidise part of the accommodation so that will be a great help. Found this piece of information on the event: We are pleased to announce that for this year only the World Cup will have its own “Olympic-style†village – Club Lou Pigno in Le Pradet, Toulon. The club is set in the hillside surrounded by pine trees overlooking the Mediterranean. With our own bar and a nightly entertainment programme, the tournament is set to have a great holiday atmosphere. The accommodation consists of bungalows which are well equipped with a private verandah and for those who prefer the more traditional hotel style rooms, we can accommodate you in the main building. All bowlers and guests will receive breakfast and evening meal.
