Yeah im really pissed off we got no striker...
But as Elvis says the club is broke and has no money...getting someone in depended on someone going out (i.e. Babel) but that didnt happen...

yeah but we have let 4 or so players go on loan. We should have offered them a a knock down price and maybe got 10-12mill to spend on a striker

Not a striker but would have taken him .. but we let Alberto go so there was no chance of bringing in a centre attacking midfielder.

shouldn't have to sell them at knock down prices ... we made around £10m profit in the transfer window and the savings in players wages loaned out , should have easily covered bringing in another 2-3 players even if only on loan.
And that's not including the extra TV cash this year .. @ a average of £13m increase per club from the increase in oversea rights going from £10m to £23 per club..

Well there was a lot of people moaning about us signing Cole yesterday and saying they didnt want him and now people are moaning that we didnt sign a striker.

I belive Babel will step up to the plate and with the new medical team I dont think Torres will be injured so much this season.

Big season for Babel, he really has to step when he gets on the pitch...

The reason we were going for Cole was again because he was a home-grown player. We just have the minimum 8 required, so even if one was long term injured at the moment, you couldn't put another player in in their place because we don't have another home-grown player. I think the new squad rules were a big reason that there was so little movement at the end of the transfer window, and the reason squads have been trimmed. No point in paying players wages if they can't play, especially if you are as f***ed for cash as we are...

No reason to trim our squad were only able to put in a 21 man squad when the limit is a 25 man squad.
We have room fort 4 more non home grown players over 21 but only have 13 at the club and your allowed 17 .
And if we had brought in 1 or 2 more home grown could have easily loaned out Spearing and Darby to a championship club in the next few days or so.

Really wanted Cole to sign simply because it was transfer deadline day and he was the only one that looked like there was any possibility of happenin. Dunno why people were turning there noses up at the prospect of him we've needed a striker at the past couple of transfer windows and still we haven't signed one. Hopefully Babel can reach his potential this year but have been sayin that for a while now and tbh i'm not to optimistic. If Nando picks an injury ths year Cole wont look like such a bad signing!

Of course were all disappointed we didn't sign a striker but we'd be more disappointed if we signed the wrong striker which IMO is Carlton Cole. There was no suitable striker and we are hardly in the position to spend money anyway because of the yanks.

We have 22, but in any case having the minimum homegrown players is not a good idea, as I said, if one is long term injured you cannot replace him with another player, you need another homegrown players. Hence one of the reasons we were going for Cole over other imo better strikers. I was talking in general about clubs trimming their squads, not just us, hence the boring end of the transfer window. The fact that we have no money would tie in with why we have a small squad, hopefully a few of the young fellas will come on this year.

    Here is the squad btw

    Homegrown Players: (8)
    Carragher
    Cole
    Darby
    Gerrard
    Johnson
    Jones
    Konchesky
    Spearing
    Non-Homegrown Players: (14)
    Agger
    Aurelio
    Babel
    Itandje
    Jovanovic
    Kyrgiakos
    Kuyt
    Lucas
    Maxi
    Meireles
    Poulsen
    Reina
    Skrtel
    Torres
    Youngsters:
Players born after 1/1/89 and thus are unlimited in the squad and not required to be named in the 25 man list.
    Amoo
    Ayala
    Bouzanis
    Bruna
    Eccleston
    Gulacsi
    Hansen
    Ince
    Irwin
    Kelly
    Mavinga
    Ngog
    Pacheco
    Palsson
    Robinson
    Shelvey
    Wilson

Of the under 21s, Kelly, Pacheco, Shelvey and NGog will all get game time, so what's the point in paying other over 21s wages when we have no money

Roy had enough time to find / sign a striker, and he didn't. Hope for his sake Torres stays fit, because with what we have as a backup, we won't score a lot. When the goals don't come know, Roy will have to answer himself for not bringing in scoring potential.
But who knows what the boardroom plan is...

21 i dont include Itandje  and i hope the club dont ..

There was no big push to go for another homegrown player in Cole as we had 8 already and had 4 not 3 imo { i dont think the club will list Itandje } places for non homegrown players .. so imo it didn't mater if we didn't buy a homegrown player .

We could have brought 3-4 players in on loan that were not home grown but bringing a homegrown player we would have to then loaned out or sold 1 of the 8 that are listed ..... either Darby or Spearing imo.
Basically im saying there was no need for a homegrown player just any striker would have done.

my list was correct as far as i can see ..
