Now it seems we're done how do people think roy has done in the transfer window In Koncheskey - Needed A LB and he should be very capable of doing a job. Plenty of prem experience and should shore things up a bit Meireles - Don't know a lot about him but have read good things Poulson - Basically a hatchet man think he is a direct replacement for masch Wilson - One for the future Cole - Our 'sexiest' signing. He can offer us something we havent had for a while. Great on the ball and good for the killer pass Out Benayoun - Will be missed but think we got the best of our dealings with chelsea Riera - Less said the better Degan - See above Aquilani - Good to get his wages off the books but would rather have sold him Mascherano - A serious player and a big loss. Also a c**t. Hopefully poulson and raul can cover for him Insua - Never really looked up to it. Now we have cover he won't be missed I think he's done well. There were never going to be any major fireworks and it seems we've pretty much sold to buy. If raul or poulsen can cover for masch I think we are finishing the window slightly improved. A striker would have been nice but realisticaly the cash we do have is better spent improving the squad in cheaper positions. You can rarely get f**k all for 6/7mil or less up front apart from heartache The main coup was keeping stevie and nando especially seen as the money we'd get for them would probably go missing
Think we have at best done like for like or downgraded ... with a profit again .{4th transfer window net income} Koncheskey -V Insua ..... debatable to be honest { taking everything into account age etc } Meireles - v Masch........ downgrade {hope I'm wrong } Poulson V Aquilani ...... downgrade {terrible decision to loan out } Wilson - time will tell Shevely--- Like the look of this lad Cole v Benayoun .... upgrade if stays fit NLW V Reira .......... need a left winger badly with pace , but Reira deserved to go has left side unbalance imo. £9-10m profit plus loaned out £17-22m in 2 players ...... very hard to upgrade any team like that.
I hope a few more fans who haven't a clue what is going on at the club now begin to get an idea of how fcuked we are and we are only going to keep selling players and bringing in cheaper replacements. Hopefully a few more will boycott the club and refuse to give their money to Yanks, so be it if someone else takes their place. I refuse to get tickets for people I know for home games because of my stance on boycotting home games and merchandise. Sorry to the OP, I am not answering your question in the way you wanted but you catch my drift.
In Koncheskey - Good signing better than having Insua at left back like last year. Big Improvement. Should be a good player for us. Meireles - Seen him play few times but never really stood out. Hopefully will be as good as the reports are. Poulson - Same again for Poulson. Wilson - watched him in a few games in scot prem and was always making mistakes but hopefully will become a player for us in years to come. Cole - Quality Out Benayoun - Did well for us but went missing in alot of games.Cole is twice the player Benayoun will ever be. Riera - Was useless Degan - Actually liked Degen but we have to many rightbacks at the club Aquilani - Looked good from the games I have seen him but both Rafa and Roy didn't rate him so something must be up. Always sick or injuried. Mascherano - w*nker Insua - was terrible last season I wont miss him.
So we've managed to bring in more money than we have spent AGAIN, so what happens to that surplus + the 5-15million budget that was promised, absolute joke, and im also not sure if we are stronger or better off, I mean Poulsen is no replacement for Masch and neither is Meireles, although I do think he is a good player and so is cole, but Poulsen, his transfer was a joke,. We upgraded on Sissoko with Masch, Juve tried that too with Poulsen and thought Sissoko was better, so Barca upgraded on Toure with Masch, and we 'upgraded' more like downgraded in taking Juves cast off and paying them 6mil, why not take poulsen and 6 mil for Aqua now, rather than letting them loan him for a season, they just sold Diego for 15 mil to Wolfsburg too, so they werent strapped for cash,. And still no striker,. I know we have no money and the owners are *******s, but we had money left over, if all that was said is be believed,. Welcome to Liverpool Shopping Centre, where the top brands can be purchased for less than half price, we also buy your old worse off items for double the price,.
Don't forget Shelvey! A great prospect The net profit in transfers over the last few years is considerable, it's no wonder we have gone from 2nd two years ago to having a slim chance of 4th now.
Agreed that keeping them was our best business of the summer. Torres is a world cup winner and played in a squad full of quality players with almost all playing back home in a strong and entertaining league. His head could easily have been turned. For some reason I never saw Gerrard leaving, unless it was to Real. But Maureen didn't put up much of a fight for him. Anyway I think we've done very very well in the transfer market. There wasn't much value out there but I think we ended up with a squad capable of making the top 4. Another striker would be good but there was no point wasting around 10 million on a player who didn't fit into Roy's plans. There's always January.....
I feel like some that it's hard to get excited about this transfer window for obvious reasons but hope all the new signing do well.
Not too thrilled actually. Think overall we lost a lot of creativity (Benayoun, Riera and Aquilani) while Roy seems to have focussed on strengthening the defensive compartment (Koncheskey, Meireles, Poulson and Wilson), completely forgetting we have a scoring problem. Let's hope Stevie and Nando both stay fit, if not... On the other hand: think the axis Gerrard-Cole-Torres is a very strong one. If they all stay fit...
We really need to keep our best players fit and hope the likes of Babel, Ngog and the new lads step up to the plate.
We've signed a defenders/defensive midfielders which is a good place to start. Our goals will have to come from Torres/Cole/Gerrard. Some are arguing that overall our squad is now weaker than at the start of the summer. Personally I don't agree, but I know I'll definitely enjoy watching this squad a lot more than last season's. I think we'll go out to win more games.
Last seasons first XI in biggish games Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Agger, Insua, Masher, Lucas, Kuyt, Gerrard, Benayoun, Torres This season first XI in biggish games Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Agger, Koncheskey, Meireles, Poulson, Kuyt, Gerrard, Cole, Torres Much of a muchness. Main point is there has no real regression but definately no vast improvement when all our rivals have moved on. Roy has done alright, however Yanks Out!!!
spot on with assessment there at best we've kept the level from last season which saw us finish 7th or at worst we've done a lot worse all the players we've brought in it's debatable imo if they are better, if they were clearly better than we wouldn't even be having this debate, says it all for me

One thing i hope we have this season is the right attitude and players who look like they want to play for the Manager , something we lacked a lot last season...... We were only 7 points of 4Th last season ...... and with the right attitude and 100% commitment we should be able to give it a proper go this year ....
I think it was obvious the yanks were gonna f**k us, not give us any money and rob what we make Considering this I think Roys done well I think Shevely was Rafas signing along with Jova
Agree considering .... £9-10m profit plus loaned out £17-22m in 2 players ...... very hard to upgrade any team like that..
