29 Aug 2010 Liverpool are offering Ryan Babel to West Ham in a last-ditch bid to sign Carlton Cole before the transfer window shut http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/transfer-gossip/reds-hot-for-cole
Babel has the potential and probably is much better than Cole, he's only scored 26 goals in 108 apps for west ham, hope this doesnt happen
dont know how anyone could c this as a straihgt swap if true what a waste the lad has never been givin a chance
Babel must convince me Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson says Ryan Babel has it all to prove. Hodgson admitted there had been interest in Babel but he would like to see the player develop further and hopefully finally flourish at Anfield. "There are clubs who want Ryan Babel and who knows what might happen in the next two days?" said the Liverpool manager. "I can't make bold statements but if Ryan is here at the end of the transfer window then I'm looking to use him in that striking position. "That is where he thinks he is best and there is no reason for me to doubt him. "I don't know enough about him to have a strong opinion one way but he has qualities you can use as a striker." Last line was the same he said about LDV .... ?
That line says to me a new striker depends on Babel been sold/swapped. So much for Masch's money being reinvested in the team.
im sick of people keep saying babel has potential where saying that for 3 season now he is rubbish get him out get cole in we need someone to hold up the ball and bring people in to play
This is a load of boll1x.Babel should be given a chance + I for one thought Roy would give him an opportunity to prove himself but so far he's only getting 5 minutes at the end of each game which is shocking.I definitely think he's worth a run in the team alongside Nando instead of that plank Ngog.
Bloody ridiculous swapping Babel for another player, we're thread bare in quality on the bench as it is.
West Ham to let Cole go, West Ham expect a last minute bid from Liverpool for Carlton Cole after Roy Hodgson's approach for Fulham's Bobby Zamora was dismissed out of hand by Mark Hughes. Hodgson wanted to raid his old club again having pushed through a deal for one of his old boys Paul Konchesky, but talks are continuing over Cole, with Ryan Babel a potential makeweight in a £12 million deal. A source close to the deal told Soccernet: "The possibility of Zamora going to Liverpool was a non starter, not even worth going there. But Liverpool remain interested in Carlton Cole. With Sunderland and Stoke willing to pay £9 million plus £3 million for add-ons, the Hammers might have to accept a lesser fee as the England centre-forward will only quit east London for a big club such as Liverpool. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=819472&sec=transfers&cc=5739 Think it will be either Cole or no one .... if we stump up around £9-10m imo.
Really hope this isn't true.. Let's give Ryan a chance up top.. We will have a lot of games and will need him and he is a lot better than Cole, just look at mins on the pitch and goals ratio..
That article falls over itself a bit! Sunderland and Stoke offer £12 mill. Cole wants to go to Liverpool so West Ham may have to accept less that £12 mill. Liverpool have offered a deal worth £12 mill. Ahhhm!!!
Spurs have enquired about taking Dutch forward on loan... Tottenham have made a swoop for Ryan Babel after moves for four big-name strikers have fallen through over the last 48 hours, Goal.com UK have revealed. Spurs have turned to the Liverpool forward after their attempts to capture Luis Fabiano, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Emmanuel Adebayor and Guiseppe Rossi all hit dead ends. The north London club have made an initial enquiry about taking Babel on a season-long loan, but it is understood that Liverpool would only consider letting the Dutch forward go on a permanent transfer. The Merseysiders are keen to recoup the 11.5 million fee they paid for Babel, 23, when he moved from Ajax three years ago. White Hart Lane manager Harry Redknapp has become increasingly frustrated in his attempts to capture the big-name striker that he believes is essential to make Tottenham an established Champions League club. Chairman Daniel Levy has money to spend after Spurs qualified for the Champions League group stages, but Fabiano signed a new two-year Sevilla deal yesterday and Huntelaar is close to clinching a 10.5m move from AC Milan to Schalke. Levy could not agree a fee with Villarreal for 8m-rated Rossi and enquired about taking Adebayor on a season-long loan yesterday but Manchester City do not want to offload players to rivals. City confirmed this morning that Adebayor will not be leaving Eastlands during the current transfer window. Babel has emerged as Spurs’ latest target because they feel he has more to offer than Robbie Keane, who the Londoners want to offload in the final hours of the window when a deal is done. West Ham, Aston Villa and Sunderland are all potential suitors for the Irishman but the Hammers are viewed as the favourites to land his signature http://www.goal.com/en/news/11/tran...oop-for-liverpools-ryan-babel-after-moves-for
i take it you rate Huntelaar? don't get me wrong i'd take him if we get him on loan but not sure he does enough outside the box for me and i think we need someone a bit better
