We the undersigned demand that Boxrec.com correct and update Irish Boxer John Duddy's record. John's Nationality is currently legally Irish, which he opted to identify with under the "Good Friday Agreement" (1998)(1). Boxrec currently have John listed as "United Kingdom" for his nationality (2), which is factually incorrect. Boxrec's refusal to update John's record goes against John's legal right to be identified with and classed as Irish.
We have addressed this issue with Boxrec.com on their forums, but they have failed to amend the record. (3)
Furthermore, John's uncle, John "Jackie" Duddy was killed by British troops at the age of 17 on the infamous "Bloody Sunday", January 30, 1972 (4). Identifying John as British is an insult to John Duddy and his uncle's memory.
This request is not only based on moral grounds, but also legal grounds as John is legally Irish, as stated in paragraph 1. John has proven his Irish Identity by flying the Irish Tricolour to his boxing contests.
We ask that Boxrec.com put aside whatever petty differences they have against the people of Ireland and correct the current factually incorrect record of John Duddy, changing it to Irish.
