Saying Alberto Aquilani to juve for 17-18 million Euros .. twist for Juve, who wants to score a blow to the midfield. Given the difficulties to get to Ledesma, the dg Marotta turns on former Roma midfielder Alberto Aquilani, who arrived in Liverpool for a year. His agent Franco Zavaglia has flown in the day to discuss the bid with Juventus the Reds. Last year it cost about 20 million euros plus bonus, Juve would rather not go beyond 17 to 18 million euros. As learned from the director of TMW Michael Criscitiello, Zavaglia flew to Liverpool to close the deal in a few hours Aquilani. During the day we will all updates on this story. http://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/?action=read&id=224941 ???
According to the Daily Fail ( as ye call it ) they are quotes attributed to Hodgson that refer to him going on loan but clearly the fact he didn't play him last night he doesn't fancy him and he'll probably go either way before the close of the window if they are interested parties.
If he goes, and I wish he wasn't I hope its soon so he can be replaced. Can't end up selling a load of players on deadline day and replacing them in a panic buy ewith players who aren't up to scratch.
"neiljjones RT @justinheron TuttoJuve reporting that #Aquilani deal progressing. Initial news is a 1 year loan with 50% of players wages paid."[/QUOTE] So looked up Tuttojuve and it says ... Coming exclusive TuttoJuve.com the details of that Juventus is concluding with Liverpool to bring in Alberto Aquilani Juventus. The official, Franco Zavaglia, will arrive tomorrow in Italy, but on the flight there will be the midfield, which will come next week instead. Juventus and Liverpool have agreed to loan the player dry, with the assignment to be fully paid for by Juventus. The whole operation will cost Juve about 4 million. According to Opta stats ... Alberto Aquilani set up a goal every 136 minutes - the best assist rate in the top five leagues in Europe in 2009-10 http://www.tuttojuve.com/?action=read&idnotizia=27746
Seems they will pay his full wages of around £65k a week { around 4 million euros} and a option to buy .. going by http://www.football-italia.net/aug20r.html http://www.tuttojuve.com/?action=read&idnotizia=27746
Better off selling him then loaning him out and paying half his wages, I dont understand this one at all, eitheir keep him or sell him dont fecking loan him off
What a shame , we'll never see him back here again, He better have someone lined up that's creative or I won't be a happy bunny.
+1 If Gerrard gets injured now we're back the same way we were last season with nobody to link the defence to the strikers with forward passing
Last night showed me a lot with Lucas and Poulsen in midfield not bashing any of them but they would not unlock any defence that is where we need aqua trying something different playing forward balls and supporting the forwards
Loan deal is fcuking ridiculous.I don't like Gerrard playing in the middle at the best of times but at least he's a creative player. He's not going to be able to play every game and any combination out of Lucas,Masch and Poulsen is going to be incredibly negative and pointless unless it's a tough away game.Still question marks over left back,no back-up striker and now it looks like we're going to have the same problems as last season in the middle.Sounds familiar.
Not bashing a debutante and a midfield pairing who never played together before, are you not? Looks like it to me. Who won that penalty again, can't remember... Good debut for Poulsen from where I was watching
Im not bashing them but they are not attacking midfield players they are holding midfield players can you honestly say you think that Lucas or Poulsen can make an attacking difference to or team, Ya they are great when we are under pressure and need a ball winner but if we are playing say Blackpool and they have 10 men behind the ball what is Lucas or Poulsen going to do for us........
To answer your question I think Lucas gave a lot more going forward last night and I think you will not see him in the same role for Roy as he had for Rafa. I think Roy will play him as a midfielder with licence to go forward. I think we'll see a different Lucas this year. How you can relate it to a midfielder who hasn't really played for us I don't know as he hasn't shown enough to say we're missing out on anything. And Roy has watched him for two months, he's not sending him on loan for spite, if Roy thought he could get something out of him he'd keep him. Where is this idea that Aquilani would be great coming from when the guys who are 1 watching him everyday in training 2 working with him in the hope he will be of benefit to the club 3 do not play him and are actively seeking to offload him have clearly decided he is not up to standard. Roy has no axe to grind and needs every good player he can get. So if he's off-loading him he is not good enough. And I see no reason in the circumstance how you can use a player who is not good enough as an example to criticise a good debut and a midfield pairing playing for the first time together. The coaching staff know better than you, sorry but I'm pretty sure of that.
I would understand if they sold Aqua and brought in another creative midfield player and as I said previously I do think Poulsen and Lucas are good at there position, Imho if Roy does plan to use Lucas further forward that would be a mistake as I just dont think he is good enough player to do a job for us there but that is just my opinion im sure Roy and coaching staff no better then me. Oh and I also though Poulsen had a really good debut and will make a good squad player
All depends on if more leave I think. If Kuyt and Masch are going we definitely need more. If no-one else goes we have any combination from Shelvey, Kuyt, Maxi, Gerrard, Jovanovic, Masch, Lucas, Poulsen, Cole, Spearing, Babel to fill midfield spots.
The transfer dealine is around 10 days away, so if either Kuyt or Aquilani leave and Roy doesn't have replacements lined up, we will be firmly up s**t creek. Mascherano, well at least we have Poulson & Lucas to play def. midfield, but the fact remains if we don't get to spend any incoming money before the Aug deadline, it will more than likely have vanished come the January window.
