Trapattoni discharged from hospital Tuesday, 17 August 2010 12:58 Republic of Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni has been discharged from hospital after being taken ill in the run-up to last week's friendly clash with Argentina. The 71-year-old Italian underwent minor surgery at Dublin's Mater Hospital last Wednesday after complaining of abdominal pain. He remained in hospital until this morning, but has now been discharged. Trapattoni missed the Argentina game after his surgeon decided to operate when investigations revealed his discomfort was being caused by minor scar tissue from a previous procedure. His assistant Marco Tardelli will announce the Republic squad for next month's Euro 2012 qualifiers against Armenia and Andorra on Friday. A statement released by the Football Association of Ireland said: 'The Football Association of Ireland today confirmed that Republic of Ireland manager, Giovanni Trapattoni, was discharged from the Mater hospital this morning. 'Giovanni Trapattoni would like to express his sincere thanks to the staff of the Mater hospital for their excellent care.'
Me granda had a quadruple bypass and was out in 5 days, trap gets a week for a bug...shows Neil Diamond was right...money talks.
Sadly thats true Shane - and it shows the two tier health system we have, A friend of mines mother is waiting on an operation on her stomach for over six monts and is in alot of pain and her weight has dropped to under six stone but yet she has to wait months to be seen !
I think I read somewhere that scar tissue from a previous procedure was the problem. He did have a minor operation. I do agree that its an absolute disgrace the length of time people have to wait to seen in this country. Its like everything you dont really think about it until its somebody you know.
