A copy of the Beano came with one of the papers today. Brought back many memories. Dennis the Menance, Billy Whizz, The Bash street kids. Got thinking about other comics I used to buy. Anybody remember "Tiger" with Billy's boots, Hot shot Hamish, Mighty mouse and Nipper. ( Im showing my age here, aren't I ?.... AGAIN !! )

What comics were popular with the other members of the site?

Tiger was my favourite comic. 'Skid Solo' was the greatest motor racing driver ever and of course 'Melchester Rovers' were the best team in the land. Also remember a comic called 'Warlord' that would be politically incorrect in todays united Europe.

my gran when she was alive started buying me the Beano and Dandy every week since i was 4 years of age.I have kept the same thing up with ny own kid and have every issue of the beano since 1986!
Got me started into comics and have a couple of thousand surperhero comics and some pretty expensive ones that the wife would love to sell! :D

Once picked up a couple of really rare comics in a boot sale for only a few euro

Jaysus "Skid Solo" forgot all about him. Heres another "Johnny Cougar" he was a wrestler. You're bringing the memories flooding back guys. The Eagle. That was a great one too. Used to love to get the annuals at christmas.

Me and my 17 yr old son would be superhero fans. My son is quite knowledgeable about the DC and Marvel comics. He has not got a collection though.

I used to be a fanatic back in the day; I'm not sure if you know the place, but Forbidden Planet beside the ha' penny bridge, (still there) used to be a fantastic spot for picking up mint condition comics...i'd spend hours in there reading!

They still have a great collection but online is where all the real good stuff is bought and sold these days.
My own pride and joy are my Superman issue 127 and 128,both given to me by my grandfather and worth about 500 euro between them.Superman issue 1 is valued at about 250,000 dollars:eek:
A signed Kevin Smith daredevil and 5 issues of the original Daredevil series. If the missus ever finds out how much this collection is worth im done for:D

I have a couple of thousand DC and Marvel comics stored away in a fire proof cabinet.Something to pass on to my young fella when he is older, just 5 years old and he spends whatever money he has buying the kids version of the superhero comics.
