i was truly disappointed by john motson commenting on the england game during the week. peter crouchs goal was first class; but all motson went on about was how great beckham was, now i know the pass was good but it was an everyday pass but the way crouch took it on the chest and from there to his boot and from there to the back of the net while moving was a great goal. please people give the man the credit due to him, because his height makes it look awkward does not hide the fact he has some lovely touches. one of my favourite players i must say.

agreed, and as he tore off to the touchline to celebrate, i had the feeling england would lose. a typical hard-luck story for the bloke, should've been england's saviour. One of the unluckiest players in football.

I've watched the goal a few times now to be honest ....
if you notice, from the time he gets the ball and initially controls it, he never glances at the goal which does make me wonder if he was geniunely taking a shot at goal ....
having said that, it's the result that counts and he scored a super goal, so fair play to the big man it's gotta be one of the best I've seen in a long time.

For a man that has always been referred as lanky and awkward hes now scored two of the most stunning goals I have seen. The one yesterday and the scissors kick for us a few years ago.
Saw the highlights of his match last weekend and some of his heel flick layoffs were outstanding too.

Should have kept him

Should have kept him
He wouldn't sign a new contract as he knew (and accepted) he would always be second fiddle to Torres.
Re the goal it was incredible but I wasn't that surprised. It was clear very early that was his intention and he's always had near impeccable technique.

fluke
He aimed for the goal and it went in, that was no fluke. If it was Messi that hit it everone would be wetting themselves going on about a great finish but because it is lanky Crouch we get the snobby football comments.

Pretty sure that "fluke" comment was a joke, no?

Crouch pulls these unreal goals out every so often, no more than the bicycles he scored for us! still a great player imo
