Anyone have any interest in being part of a gambling society? Not sure exactly how it works but I've been in locals that have a gambling society. Jist of it seems to be that all those who want to take part pay an equal amount (€10-€20etc) and each week a different person invests some of the pot with the aim of making a profit for the end of the season. I'd perfer if it was football only but that can be discussed if they're is an interest in this.
I'd take part too, Bobby would you have a more detailed breakdown of how it would work? Like if each person threw in €5 each week and it all goes towards the weekly bet and each person takes a turn every week or something?
this could work quite well as if there was enough people throwing a few quid in each week you could put the money down on home 'bankers' or odds like 10/11 etc etc the only prob that these 'bankers' dont always come in so there shud be a cap on what you can bet with each week
I've never been involved in one before but what I think happens is everyone pays a 1 off amount in the beginning, say €10 or €20. Say 20 people pay €10 in that makes a total of €200.00 in the pot, we do a draw where everyone gets a week number where it is their turn to choose a bet. The amount of the bet should be €10 I think. Again I'm new to this so if anyone knows more than me post away.
The one that we used to have in the pub was everyone threw in a tenner each week, and a name was drawn out of the hat and whoever was drawn out gets 100 to go to the bookies and do any bet you want. Hand the slips in behind the bar before the bet takes place and the winnings if any gets divided at the end of the season. . usually ends up at a slight loss but still a few bob at the end of it.
have one in work everyone invests €100 over a 5 month period i.e €20 a month or €5 a week then each person has €100 each week to bet. all bets must be done before the 1st game on the given saturday.the one in work allows you to bet on anything but like the idea of just football bets.will ponder this a little more before commiting

Ran one of these meself in work, bout 2 year ago, and to say it was a nightmare, would be an understatement. Collectin money every week, only a fiver a man, was nearly impossible. Swore id never do it again. Best of luck to yis if it does get goin, but im out!!!
can be a hassle collecting cash but ya just gotta set a deadline each week/month and anyone that hasn't paid is out forfeiting any winnings etc, and then stick to that rule. Have organised stuff in work sometimes and that's how we operate them.
i think the collecting of the cash would be the hardest as people are based all over the country and you could only collect funds via paypal or direct into a bank account
Same here. Simple solution though _ everyone gets Paypal up and running who wants in and pays in by say each Wednesday ? I'd have an interest if this is a runner btw.
10 interested so far. Those who are interested depending on rules stick down a few ideas and we start discussing them asap. Going to start investigating this, what I was thinking was setting up a betting account using an entropay type card. All involved lodge to the card and all could have access to the betting account details and just log in and bet when its their turn. This may be illegal of course but I will spend a few hours on it over the next couple of days.
