Monty has named Paul McGinley, Thomas Bjorn and Darren Clarke as his vice-captains.

Great news. Nice to see two Liverpool fans are Vice Captians (Clarke and Bjorn). :)

The backroom team is definitely better than the previous one. There's 3 very experienced winners there. Monty is doing a great job so far, so hopefully all his good work will result in a win for Europe.

There's no chance the Harrington won't be picked as a wildcard if he doesn't automatically qualify is there? Surely you want a 3 time Major winner in the team even if he hasn't been in great form recently?

I reckon Europe are absolute certainties for this and will be backing them.

Hard to know Fran, although he's been on the winning team a few times his own record (7-8-2) isn't great. I wouldn't say he's a cert but I'd still have him in.

If I've worked it out right, as it stands the 9 qualifiers are:

    Westwood
    McIlroy
    McDowell
    Donald
    Poulter
    Kaymer
    Molinari
    Jimenez
    McGowan

Monty has some job to pick his 3 wild cards. Casey has to picked imo and I dont think he can leave Harrington out. After that theres the likes of Rose, Stenson, Fisher and a few others. Also it was good to see Garcia have a decent open championship and with his ryder cup record, I reckon he'll be seriously considered too

Hope McGowan falls out of the automatic position's hopefully Casey or Harrington get in.Then the 3 picks will be a bit easier for Monty to choose from.I'd go with Casey/Harrington and Stenson with my last pick been Garcia

That's just 3 names u mentioned, there is Justin Rose, Ross Fisher, Robert Karlsson and even Rhys Davies there all worth a pick too. Will be a tough wildcard pick for Monty no doubt.

Monty has won an injunction against the news of the world preventing his ex girlfriend from revelaing details about his private life.Rumored to include S&M photos.

    Great news for European team.
