Olympiakos have demonstrated an interest in Liverpool winger Albert Riera, skysports.com understands.

The Spaniard's future at Anfield is uncertain after falling out with former boss Rafa Benitez.

Riera has since been linked with a switch to Spartak Moscow, but a deal failed to come to fruition.

However, Olympiakos have emerged as potential new suitors with reports claiming vice-president Sokrates Kominakis is in England for talks.

It is suggested Olympiakos are to offer €4million (£3.4m) but Liverpool are seeking nearer €5million (£4.2m).

Albert Riera - set to leave Liverpool

Greek newspaper SportDay claims Olympiakos will initially pay the Reds €4million.

If the Greek side win the league next year, the fee will rise to €6million and if Riera is moved on in the future, Liverpool will receive 50% of the fee.

Riera’s agent Angel Castell will meet Olympiakos chariman Socratis Kokkalis within the next few days to agree personal terms.

Sito Riera, who plays in Greece and is Riera’s younger brother, also admitted he would welcome the 28-year-old to Greece.

“What I know is that my brother is currently in Switzerland, to prepare for the season with Liverpool.

“Beyond that I know nothing except what is being said.

“I hope that he comes to Greece. I wiill be very happy to be in the same city s him.â€

id say so , with Jovanovic and probably Cole coming in i can see him been surplus but £3.4m is a joke ... even if he hit Pacheco and slatted the club..

This deal about 50% of any sell on and another 2 million if they win the league is interesting as Olympiakos have won the league 12 out of the last 14 years

The thing is has he showed he is worth more than 3 million. For me he hasn't at all. 3 Million nothing these days but I would take as clearly he doesn't want to be at the club.

Yes this was the whole reason he was dropped seems Pacheco would not pass to him in a training game and when Reira started to give him abuse Pacheco give some back and he got a smack for his troubles

I think this fella is on his way out to be honest.
I don't think he has any chance of getting a game with us next season due to the arrivals of Joe Cole and Jovanovic both which can play on the left.
I see absolutely no reason to hold onto Riera now.

We should just cut our losses here ...

he made it clear some time back, he didn't want to stay and while Rafa is gone, there's no reason to keep this fella, if he's crossed one manager he'll cross another.

I wish him well at his new club.

Liverpool's Spanish winger Albert Riera has agreed a four-year deal with Olympiakos, the Greek side's coach Ewald Lienen said, in a deal which would be Greece's most expensive transfer.

Greek media reported that the deal will see the 28-year-old be paid 2.5 million euros a year, with Liverpool picking up five million euros for the transfer.

The transaction will be a record for the Greek league.

"Riera is a very big player who has shown his value on the teams he has played and for the Spanish national team," Lienen told a press conference.

The 28-year-old former Espanyol and Bordeaux winger is expected to sign his contract with Olympiakos either on Thursday or Friday.

+1 some of them get some huge crowds too. Bye bye Albert. Big dissapointment after a bright start.
