Weights were announced yesterday for the 2 big races at the meeting http://www.racingpost.com/horses2/cards/card.sd?race_id=510299&r_date=2010-07-29 http://www.racingpost.com/horses2/cards/card.sd?race_id=510297&r_date=2010-07-28 Im all over Dirar for the Galway Hurdle.Elliott has confirmed he is definitely on target for the race. Very surprised that theres only 47 entries for a race worth €250,000.Keith Donoghue will probably ride and with Bahrain Storm almost certain to run even if the top weight doesnt i can see weights rise only 2lb or so putting Dirar on 10-6,take off Keiths 7lb claim and Dirar carries a featherweight of 9-13. This horse has always possessed a touch of class he disappointed a little when campaigned on the flat with John Oxx.Since moving to Capranny he has transformed under Elliotts handling winning 5 of his 6 last hurdle races and winning a flat races at Ayr last month (beating Lady Eclair who has won 5 of her last 6,only defeat was to Dirar and is on target for a listed race in Leopardstown on Thurday). He is currently 10s Fav with Paddypower,Spoilsports and Billy Hills, that wont last and i expect if he gets there on his A game and ground is riding on the quick side he'll be 3s on the day imo. Get on it!!!
Really looking forward to going down to this, never be there before and from what I have heard its a wild week down the West. Many going
Galway Plate day last year was way down on the yr before. No heavy traffic which is unheard off on that day. It did pick up after that bit it was a big shock. No feedback from the hotels so far this year
I am booked in the student apartments as most places were booked out or far too dear. Travelodge 40 euro a night usually, 244 a night race week weekend. 8 or so of us heading down for Saturday and Sunday. will keep an eye on this thread
I agree with you 100% on that Ronan. Elliott's landed a couple of really decent touches with Dirar before and I will have some of that 10/1. Dirar will definitely get into the race, the 10/1 won't last too long.
He also has Grand Opera in there who is a decent sort and off a lighter weight than Dirar, Elliott is getting alot more like the way O'Brein is these days packs a load of enteries into a race and see what he comes out with. That's just my own opinion. i actually seen that Dirar race where he beat lady Eclair 3weeks ago latter has won since.
Good stuff cant wait me holidays start on Friday and we have a horse going down to see if she preforms well it will be even better.

No doubt an appearance will be made at Keogh's pub so! Many a good night and pint I've enjoyed in that place
John Duggan tipped Dirar this morning, so I would say that has jinxed that bet, I have a few beans on it e/w at 6/1
Into 4s now Gar,ground fast,to me its bar a fall or desperate bad luck only thing that stops him winning.
