Im more worried about McClown being offered the Irish Job.
He ticks all the FAIs boxes.
International management experience - Check
Available - Check
Crap/Cluless/Tactically inept - Check
He's almost a shoe in!

I think the FA will not go for an Englishman this time, the simple fact is there is no Englishman good enough to take the job.If Big Sam had of stayed at Bolton he may have had a chance but he is in a big pile of dog poo up at Newcastle at the moment and I cant see the FA rescuing him.In saying that stranger things have happened.

I dont think its a case of Gobby Sam not doing well in the trophy free zone the problem is he is just trying to a cut and paste of his Bolton tactics with Newcastle and there are too many players at the club that can play football which is against his beliefs.
They arent scrappers which is what his tactics need. I hate him for the Irish job, its bad enough paying €50 a ticket to watch the lads try and play football in Croker and be rubbish but at least its football, I wouldnt pay that to watch us regress 20 years and be a long ball team

Apparently O'Neill expressed interest in this position before. I think he would be a favourite amongst the fans but if they dont get him, they will have to go for a big money foreigner. No englishman is up to it.

Shearer is a nob, the most smug gimp pundit I have ever seen on telly, getting paid millions to talk useless drivil that makes Frank Stapleton look like a genious.
He's way too comfy to take that job, and what was with that half finished suit last night?
Beside those who can, do, those who cant become pudits/critics.
I reckon it could be Klinsmann, he would play attacking attractive football but like Jose he may be a contender for the Bayern Munich job. What is Shearer's name doing there, u would swear he is the saviour!!!

Bad news in my opinion, he has won 9 league titles in 15 seasons. I think he could turn them around.

That job is a poison chalice we will wait see.
Its a very shrewd capture by the English FA - England could now be an real force at the next World Cup with him in charge.

Finally they have decided to go with someone,
who will sort the primadonnas out!!!
They'll win everything now. lmao!!
They'll win everything now. lmao!!
You might not be laughing so hard during the next World Cup, this Capello means serious business and won't be afraid to drop anyone from the side. No more Gerrard and Lampard in the middle just for the sake of it. England have a quality aquisition on their hands.

I know what you mean!
He is exactly what the english team need, he will take no shit and will quickly sort out any problems in that team. And i am sure they will win a trophy under his management.
I think mcclaren & Sven picked the team due to popularity of players and not in the interest of the team, Capello will do well there and i hope he does! great manager.

I think Capello is a brilliant acuisition, as good as Sven (who I think did an amazing job with England despite the bad press he recieved) and I predict they will qualify for the next world cup. But thats it. THey wont win anything, maybe get knocked out at the quarter final stage on penalties if they are lucky.
English players are not of the quality they are hyped up to be. They are solid and if they play with spirit they will cause top team s problems. the problem of the Maclaren era was the players behaved like prima donna superstars and didnt play with guts or pride.
Capello will change that but it wont alter their standing in world football greatly. Also the football will be horrid, a load of 1-0 and 2-0 wins, 2 holding midfielders and a commitment to defence.

Was watching SSN's coverage, and true to form, before he's even given the job, the house stalking from the press has started. This bloke has no idea what he's let himself in for. Capello can't speak English, and values his privacy, so he's already on the wrong side of their press. No wonder no Englishman will take the job. And Staunton thought our press were bad.
Interesting to see the racism from the PL's finest on the show. "I wanted an Englishman as manager". So why didn't they apply/put themselves forward for it, like Capello did??

Capello is a bloody good choice for England; could only wish that the FAI could get him (wishful thinking).
That guy takes no sh*t; he does things as he sees them and stays well clear of the Media (he will be loved for that). His track record is good and he has a tonne of experience. England will be really a force at the 2010 World Cup.
Don't know why they ever went for McClaren; just because he was the best English option, I suppose; they won't make that mistake again. I have seen the English fans comlaining today of how they are going for another foreign manager; they have no idea how lucky they are that they can bring in a high calibre guy like Capello

Even after he showed up, the racism continued. "I want an Englishman" from the nobodies.
Lots of countries all over the world hire coaches from all over the world, ourselves included. Just grow up, and get on with it.

I dont know if Capello will be able to do the job, there are so may players in the English squad who believe their own press he may have to pretty much get rid of them all.
Seeing how he plays effectively the Christmas Tree formation Rooney will be the lone striker which will no doubt have Owen spitting blood as he expects to be first choice when fit and Crouch will never play again.
Phil Neville has thrown his weight in behind him. Apparently it doesn't matter if he gives his instructons in Italian, SPanish or even African...!!!
