Lads, Firstly, I think the man is scum for what he did against us in France BUT Barca are releasing him and he would be ideal for the left wing or an option up front...get 2yrs out of him in the Gary Mac mould....any takers?
but would you not try temp him for 2yrs first? I know I would, imagine Henry left and Joe Cole right?
Well past his best cant at a game at barca, but probably would be worth a punt. Would be better than Riera and Insua.
I completely agree mate but even past his best hes better than what we have and with our financial position it could be good business...I could be wrong but did he not say at one stage that the only other club he would ever consider playing for in england is us because of our fans?
And I thought Stevie and him were mates too Although everyone says that about our fans I do wonder how many really mean it.
Yes. Time to get over the Paris thing. Karma came back to bite them on the ass in SA. No consolation to us obviously but we should have won the group easily and we just weren't good enough. Doesn't make it right but it happened. It was cheating, but it's the same as diving to win a penalty, and if we did this to get into the WC would we have cared? Not Henry's fault officials were inept. Anyway yes I would take him, great back up striker and I think the move would invigorate him. All academic anyway cos he's gonna be driving his Clio around NYC next season.
Put yourself in Henry's shoes: Come to Liverpool and join the circus or go to New York, play in the MLS at a canter and live the high life in the big apple. For someone coming to the end of his career it's a no-brainer!
I was just thinking the same thing myself this morning, he is a major hate figure and would take time to win over most fans but wouldn't be a bad free signing, what sort of wages would you reckon he'd want though? I do remember him mentioning his admiration for anfield and the Liverpool fans think it was after "the truth" demonstration a few years ago...
Yeah fair point but then again he may want one last challenge. Nothing saying he cant go to the states in a year or 2, isnt he only 33? Could be wrong
Personally i dont think free transfers are exactly free Altough there is no fee involved the players and their agents will look to get a higher wage due to this fact In the case of henry i can only guess the wage demands will be crazy as MLS teams are interested in bringing him stateside
I really wouldn't have seen Henry as being a major hate figure to match day regular's. Maybe he is to a fair few people over here but wouldn't have thought the same would apply in Liverpool. Not that I can ever seeing us being able to afford him mind you so pretty irrelevant imo.
Would say he would get booed everytime he touched the ball from the other teams just for the first few months. I would rather see Heskey back than Henry come here
Wouldnt be bothered with him really hes no pace left and doesnt look half as bothered any more hes going to MLS id say anyway
Wouldnt touch him with a 60 foot pole. Kuyt & Babel can definitely be better strikers then him not to mention torres.
I know what you're saying and maybe if our club wasn't in the shit then he might be tempted. But with the state we're in at the moment I don't think he could be bothered his arse with all the hassle and gloom. I'd say he'll either head to NY or maybe a season or two back in France.
