Of course the guy doesn't even even drive or have a car!

Going through a red light on a bike is stupid, esp at a junction

Jesus, I go through red lights all the time. Granted I always check for traffic and never take risks but I better keep an eye out for the gardai now!!

why would you run a red light on a bike? Surely the same rules apply to cyclists that apply to motorists?? Could cause a very serious accident just because you don't want to wait for the lights. Some cyclists amaze me on the roads. Cycling 3 abreast and swerving in and out of traffic and the like. Glad he got a proper punishment, might make cyclists take more care. I know all cyclists aren't the same but there is an awful lot that don't obey the rules of the road.

Fixed. And therein lies he problem.

Basic rules of the road should be thought to every child in the nation in school.

totally agree. Should be mandatory in every school at 15/16. Then if passed they get a learners permit then a proper test. But cyclists should follow all rules of the road including red lights. Checking for traffic is no use, if its red just stop.
