A John McMahon managed Liverpool XI have announced the following seven pre-season friendly matches.
The Reds XI start their preparations for 2010-11 with a trip to Wrexham on Wednesday, July 21 at 7.45pm.
Liverpool will then face Oldham Athletic in the final of the Lancashire Senior Cup, at the Lancashire County FA Ground in Leyland, on Saturday, July 24 at 3pm. Please note if the scores are level at the end of 90 minutes then no extra-time will be played. Instead the tie will be decided via a penalty shoot-out.

Local pride will be at stake when McMahon's side face Skelmersdale United in the final of the Liverpool Senior Cup at the Ashley Travel Stadium in Skelmersdale, on Saturday, July 31 at 3pm. Please note extra-time will be played if the scores are level, followed by a penalty shoot-out if needed.
A Liverpool XI take on Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park on Tuesday, August 3, at 7pm.
A two-game Irish tour completes the schedule. A Liverpool XI will face Galway United at Terryland Park, on Monday, August 9 at 7.30pm.
The squad will complete their schedule in Northern Ireland when they face Dungannon Swifts at Stangmore Park, Dungannon, on Thursday, August 12 at 7.45pm.

I sent an e-mail to TG4 to ask would they be covering this match. A few years ago they had the Sunderland pre-season friendly at Terryland.

Would be surprised if they have this on as it's a reserve Liverpool team. The Sunderland game shown previously was against the first team and Roy Keane was on show!
Tried to buy an adult and child ticket for it on Ticketmaster - seems all the child tickets are sold out. :(

Extract from above link:
"He added: "Some of the best players in the world play for Liverpool and the opportunity to see the stars of the future is an opportunity not to be missed. My own players are delighted to have the opportunity to play in such a fixture.""
Key text in bold and the fact Galway Utd are playing Liverpool XI would lead me to believe that there will be no regular first team players involved but I may be wrong of course.

Hi folks, I watched the game with BMG yesterday and I have to be honest, Stevie G. annoyed the hell out of me. Now dont get me wrong, I know he's the heart and sole of the team but it seemed that the only player on the park he wanted to pass the ball to was Joe Cole. Time and time again he kept on doing this when other be it "inexperienced/lesser/younger" players were in better positions. Now I noticed this several times last season as well with Fernando Torres. Almost every pass went to Torres whan other players were better placed. The mind boggles, it's about 11 men playing as a team, not 2 or 3 playing as a clique. Has anyone else noticed this ? Thanx folks.

Firstly what I will say that has been refreshing is the introduction of so many of the youth team and reserves in pre season. There certainly has been some stand out performances in Ecclestone, Amoo, Ayala and Shelvey. I thought Shelvey was superb againt BMG, he constantly wanted on the ball, he moved it quickly and his range of passing impressive. I also thought Danny Wilson did well when he came on and looked comfortable on the ball, strong in the tackle and read the game well.
However what is concerning is the fact we have played 3 pre season games and have failed to score or even look like scoring. I know we scored two in the european game but it would have been nice to see someone get in on the goals in the absence of Torres which was our problem last season! I know pre season is about match fitness and getting to know each other but wouldn't it have been nice to get amongst the goals?

We won the game that mattered, 2 goals for, 0 against.
With a team well short of our top players.
There were plenty of encouraging signs in the friendly games, and considering there was lots of youth players in the teams, I'm happy to see them get a run out and show what they can do. The scorelines don't matter in these games when playing line-ups as we did, Roy wanted to see what was at his disposal, and got to.
Yes, it's nice to get goals, I agree on that point, but the point of these pre-season games were for other reasons imo.
I'm not overly worried, however, when the big guns come back, I would expect alot more goal action, if it were to continue then and only then will I be worried.

Very true,I've said this before. And you can see the likes of Insua and Lucas are visibly bricking it when Gerrard calls for a pass for fear of a glare and hands on hips if the ball isn't perfectly to feet.I can see why he wanted to get Cole involved in the BMG game to get his confidence up but it was a pisstake the amount of times there was a simple ball on to one of the younger players and he ignored them. That's something he's gonna have to cut out next season. It's a team game as you said.

Would imagine so.Can see Roy putting out a strong team to give them a chance to gel before Arsenal.Id say Ayala is behind Carra,Agger,Skrtel,Kyrgiakos,Kelly and Wilson in the pecking order and someone like Kuyt,Maxi or Cole will play on the right Thursday night.

kick off at 7pm, I'd expect more of the first team involved on thursday , the world cup players have only had 1 pre season game so far the need more games before season opener.

Have to say Suso has looked like a player tonight. As Aldo said on commentary you don't want to get too carried away with young players but he's built like Luis Garcia but looks a better player at 16 than Garcia did at 25. Pre season friendly against a poor team but he definitely has ability and great vision, more so than any I've seen at that level for a while, so let's hope he nurtured right and we could have a serious player in years to come. Really hope he's in the team that plays Galway Utd, will make it a very interesting game

Fox's bar in the square used to be an LFC pub not to sure if it still is.
As Lally45 said in another thread the Menlo Park hotel would be the closest.
Looking forward to this. Day off work,LFC in my home town, few scoops after.
Llife is good.

John McMahon took a Liverpool XI team on a tour of Ireland earlier this month - and tonight on LFC TV you can exclusively go behind the scenes of the trip.
The Reds were the hottest ticket in town as they took on Galway United and the Dungannon Swifts to continue preparations for the 2010-11 campaign.
And we were there with McMahon and his men every step of the way to meet the staff and players, and, of course, capture all the action.
With some of the club's hottest prospects displaying their vast potential in Ireland, it's a show not to be missed.
Tune in to The Reds in Ireland from 6.15pm & 10.15pm tonight on LFC TV.
LFC TV is free to air on Sky Channel 434 and Virgin Channel 544 (as part of the XL pack).
