Reading various reports, the Israelis are saying they were attacked first. They claim that the ship contained weapons etc and when they attempted to board it they were attacked and then retaliated.
They also claim that Gaza is not in need of aid and that they had nothing to do with the assasination in Dubai.
if they had weapons on board then why didn't they use them to attack the soldiers boarding the boat from helicopters instead of waiting for them to get on board and attack them with iron bars? were the boats not in international waters at the time ?
My gut feeling would be that after the soldiers killed the aid workers they dropped a handgun or two on board the boat to cover their asses. We've seen it done plenty of times on our own island during the troubles.
They are a law onto themselves. Obama has a meeting with their Prime Minster tomorrow. I would say that will be an interesting conversation. A lot of goverments coming out condemning the attacks.
It won't make a blind bit of differance what Obama says tomorrow, the Israeli's just do not have any regard for the lives of Palestinian's or anybody that supports them. The pro - Israeli lobby in probably the most powerful group in America and Obama is not going to do anything to piss them off. Its always been this way and always will.

Emily Henochowicz is currently in Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem undergoing surgery to remove her left eye, following the demonstration that was held in protest to Israel’s murder of at least 10 civilians aboard the Gaza Freedom Flotilla in international waters this morning. 21-year old Emily Henochowicz was hit in the face with a tear gas projectile fired directly at her by an Israeli soldier during the demonstration at Qalandiya checkpoint today. Israeli occupation forces fired volleys of tear gas at unarmed Palestinian and international protesters, causing mass panic amongst the demonstrators and those queuing at the largest checkpoint separating the West Bank and Israel. “They clearly saw us,†said Sören Johanssen, a Swedish ISM volunteer standing with Henochowicz. “They clearly saw that we were internationals and it really looked as though they were trying to hit us. They fired many canisters at us in rapid succession. One landed on either side of Emily, then the third one hit her in the face.†Henochowicz is an art student at the prestigious Cooper Union, located in East Village, Manhattan. I think that a lot of Irish people draw an ignorant comparison between the two situations and thats where a lot of the anti israeli stuff in Ireland comes from. Let me just say I am in absolutely no way an Israeli supporter. The fact is we dont know at all if there were weapons on the ship or not but everyone automatically assumes there wasnt.
