Just thinking with more than likely no money available and what money we may have i would like spent on young talented hungry technical good players { 2 footed would be nice }. And bringing in players out of contract maybe a good option if we can get the right ones in this time , last 2 signings imo look like very good deals in Maxi Rodriguez and Milan Jovanovic . 1.Joe Cole { wages? } 2.Martin Petrov { City -Experience} 3.David James/Cudicini /Dida {Back up keeper } 4.Altintop {think we need more of a goal threat from the wings } 5 .Gallas {Think we are ok at centre back } If Rafa needs to get clever in the transfer window by Selling players to generate transfer funds and replace them with the same quality or better for Free it could be very good business and then invest in top young talent.Only if Rafa's guaranteed he will get the funds back for squad investment .
Raul is also available, me and my mate dine up a list of free transfers and I can't remember the other big names on it,.
Not saying we should or would but ..... say we sold players and brought the same quality and generated funds , surely we may have to if we going to bring in more quality and depth with the funds generated to give us a stronger squad. Reira £6m replace with Cole Skrtel? £8m replace with Gallas {like Skrtel but thinking who may generate cash } Cav £2-3m replace with one of David James/Cudicini /Dida Could be £17m there and no weakening of the squad but improvement if we buy a top player with the £17m..... I think your idea about Joe Cole Riera might be a good one but why would you get rid of Skrtel and replace him with Gallas? Once we get Skrtel fit again he'll be fine. I'd be more than happy with Agger and Skrtel as centre backs when Carra is gone.

Replacing Skrtel with Gallas im not happy with but with Maybe Wilson and Ayala coming through i think Rafa may Sell One of our centre backs and Agger is one i wouldn't want touched if Rafa needs to Sale on of the two to generate cash. If we had a transfer fund i wouldn't even think of Selling Skrtel .... but if we can replace him with similar or better quality i would prefer to Keep Agger . Anyway cant see Skrtel been sold ....more than likely Mikel San Jose will be sold . At the start of the season i was hoping Skrtel and Agger would end up been our future partnership but Skrtel imo has been disappointing this season and Agger is also able to cover at centre back and left back while Skrtel cant imo cover any other positions
With Riera more then likely gone, I would get rid of Babel too and hope to get a left winger in with the money from the two of them. Petrov would provide good back-up if we got a very good left wing in and either way would be an adequate replacement for Riera. Cole will stay in London, be it Chelsea or Spurs.
Saw that Steven Reid was available on a free. Hardly a jaw dropping capture, but IF (big IF )he could prove his fitness he would be a better squad player than Deggen in my opinion although even more injury prone.
