Again LOL
Harsh
Don't like wishing injuries on any player, but I'd be hoping he won't regain fitness until after our game with Newcastle next week.

This subject has been touched on many times before sadly i think his best days are gone and is now too injury prone,
would never wish anything bad on the fella and i remember all he done for us but i think he will never be a shadow of the player he was a few years ago before all the injurys he ha slost his frightening burst of pace !

Is it still a fact that he has scored more goal's for us at St James Park then he has for them...?
Thought that might split opinion alright! I do wonder though if his days are numbered.

sadly I think he will probably never play more than 20 games a season. A bit like Wilkenson in the rugby I suppose. His class will show through in fits and spurts. For a long time with god injured Carra and Gerrard learning the ropes he was the one that we replied on so often... terrible the way some people talk about MO these days. Short term memory I suppose:(

Why would anybody boo Danny Murphy????

Because some people have short memories. I still remember the cup final where we were played off the park by Arsenal and getting abused by my Arsenal fan mates for 80 mins. They left the pub V quietly when the medals were being handed out that day because of Michael. I would never be against someone who always tried his best for us.

Who has been injuried more over the last 2 1/2 seasons Owen or Kewell.
Owen is past it now, he is injury prone, his pace is gone which helped with his lack of height now he is just a run of the mill forward, nothing special anymore.

Injury prone yes, Past it? I dont think so, i would rather have a "run of the mill " MO getting me double figures in his 20 games a season rather than ur " worked like a horse" striker. Still it would fit in nicely with the rotation system! :D
but one of our own -- cop yourself on
He isn't one of our own.

He isn't one of our own.
Agreed. If hes pulling on the shirt of another team, (obviously)hes not a red. When some players leave Liverpool, I wish them luck. Others,I wouldnt give a toss about. Only very few have I wished (personal)success at other clubs: God, Rushie, Digger etc. Likewise, when a player leaves MancU, they are no longer scum. While I dont wish injury on MO, I certainly feel no sympathy.
I don't wish injury on him either, it just tickles me when he is. Same way it tickled me when he went to Madrid to win things and we won the Euro Cup. Personally I don't really care if he's successful, and clearly in choosing Newcastle neither does he. England is all that ever mattered to himnot Liverpool and while I would say that he did his job very well while he was here, I believe that he has made very poor choices since he left and I for one have no sympathy for that. That's all

Thats fair enough yoko but it does still not justify you "laughing out loud" at a former player who done alot for us getting injured ! dress it up whatever way you want but they are the facts !

Fact is he did play for us fact is he did alot for us
your opinion is to laugh at him getting injures that says more about you than anything else, absolutely disgusting to hear people laughing at players getting injured !
do you or have you ever played football ? and ever had a bad injury or played with someone who has ??
because i can assure you there is nothing funny about it and most right minded people would go along with that, anyway i have said my piece now !

I have acknowledged that

Not players plural. This player. And to be honest it's probably just a chip on my shoulder.
do you or have you ever played football ? and ever had a bad injury
Yes I did. I was a Centre Half, which explains my idolatry of Sami, and yes (but playing rugby so probably a bit worse).
Let's be clear though that MO is injured for two weeks, it's not like I'm heralding that an injury finished his career. A little perspective perhaps on this.
because i can assure you there is nothing funny about it and most right minded people would go along with that, anyway i have said my piece now
I only wanted to spark a debate, and apologise if some people took offence. Perhaps I could have phrased my opinions in a different way but would still like to have the debate about the relative merits of MO.

Here are mt original thoughts on micheal !
I don't think his head is in it any more. It seems as if he looks at club footie as a way of keeping him fit for England. When Liverpool wanted to re-sign him he wouldn't take the risk of going back to Madrid and saying he was only interested in us. Couldn't risk missing out for England was what he said
Also he and Damien Duff had a chance to come to Liverpool and both chose Newcastle. Why? It can't be success, Newcastle have no chance of winning anything for the considerable future (watch that one come back to bite me on the ass!) Is it Money? Is it being the big fish in the little pond?

i lost a lot of respect for him when he left us in the manner he did, letting his contract wind down and heading on the relative cheap looking for glory. I still like to see him do well (so long as it doesn't adversely effect us), but i certainly don't hold him in the high regard and with the sense of awe i used to.
Its quite ironic really, not only did he leave looking for euro glory the year we went off and won it without him, but Rafa's style of management would have been ideal to save his career. Being rotated, like he was at Real, without the pressure of being rushed back everytime he's half fit, and with a strong manager who would say "no internationals for you sonny boy" could have all contributed to him keeping a more consistent amount of starts each year, with fewer injuries.

After swearing blind the previous January he was going no where "The contract is on the table, its just a matter of signing it, Im going no where", then before you know it he is picking splinters out of his arse on the bench with a sun tan on his back leaving Benitez with 24 hours to replace him for europe and stating he was leaving Liverpool to "win things" ...
Great player for us at the time but Im with YOKO on this one

Your right here Rebel, even if he stayed at Madrid, play 20 games a season, keep his England place, outdoor pool and life his good. Instead, at Newcastle, they will play him in every dog fight FA cup matches and rush him back from injury every time ... I dont know who was worse there Sheppard or Owen
Probibly both!!

Its with a rye smile and a sigh of relief everytime I see MO and yet another injury headline.
He was great for us, but stabbed us in the back so he has gotten what he deserves by being stuck in the trophyfee wasteland that is Newcastle.
He is having so many injuries now its hard to see him ever really getting back to 100% fitness, for a player whose whole game was built on speed thats now gone, he isnt big enough to ruffle the top defenders despite him claiming to have bulked up.
At this stage he is just a run of the mill striker with a big star name. Both times he joint won the golden boot with us it was with 18 goals at the top of his game, if that was him at the top of his game with pace he is finished now as a top tier striker.

One of the lads that used to work with me, worked with Bray Wanders and works for the FAI now knows Duffs brother who did the fitness training for them and he said Duff got a £5m signing on fee at Newcastle which is why he went unlike the mancs, the chavs didnt block him going to LFC.
It was straight forward money.

stabbed us in the back
he only did what he thought was best for himself, he didnt know where he stood with the manager and he thought liverpool were going back wards instead of forward.
Do you think that stevie stabbed us in the back when he almost left for chelski, when he was stalling over a new contract, spoke to chelsea and almost left expect a call form the chairman.
Didn't MO want Benitez and SG want Curbishly when the players were consulted about the new manager

Bit Harsh wishing injuries on Michael. After all he done for us you couldnt help but wish him well wherever he goes. Really feel sorry for the man to be honest. Playing for Newcastle is enough to force him out of games thou. He is far to good for that shower

In a team that had Cisse and Baros leading the line where he stood was first choice striker, he had time to air any concerns he had with Rafa and instead despite publically saying he was happy at the club and was in talks on a new contract did a runner with a day to go in the transfer window. As you say he did what he thought was best for himself as he always does, could have rejoined us if he really wanted to and told Real it was LFC or nothing but was more concerned about his England place that what team he played for.
As for your comment on Stevie, I said in another thread about the legends that of recent times Fowler, Carra and Stevie are deemed legends but Carra and Fowler will be regarded higher because of Stevie nearly leaving twice.
