There is a rumour going round that Yossi will be off to CSKA for £9m in the summer. If we use Pacheco in his place in the squad and the manager (hopefully Rafa) is given that 9 and possibly between 6 and 8 for Riera, who would people like see come in for left side.

So for about 15-17 million pounds, who could we buy that will make a big difference to the team?

I don't think there is anything wrong with him. He got injured and when he was fit, lost his place. Happens all the time. Look at Joe Cole, Ji sung Park, Rosicky at other clubs.

He is a very good player. but he's is nearly 30 and if he wants to go, which he was quoted as saying he'll see what offers are there in the summer (I'll try and find that one) then if we can use the money elsewhere then why not?

It's a hypothetical situation at the moment. Why does everything have to be an argument?

He is a good passer, good technique and eye for goal. If Stevie and Nando are in top form, then he comes to fore. I think 9 million would be a great piece of business. I think Babel has performed better in last two months.

If I had my way I would get rid of Riera, Babel and if the deal was right Benni too. If we got 25 odd million for three, replace them with a quality left back, quality left winger and give Pacheco a chance.

Theres a few more positives about Ardan Turan both footed and can play either wings and i think he has the technical ability to play behind Torres as well.
Captain of Gala at only 20-22 , speaks volumes imo and talks very highly of us as a football club , 2005 champions league win left a everlasting positive effect on him by what ive read.
Top player already and still only 23 so resale value also there { not thinking of a sale myself } .
IMO he would cost £17m-£20m ..... young talented and hungry for success the ingredients id put on my list for my selection of a player add in the little extras like 2 footed which imo all top professional's should be , if not learn to be , priced about right before it imo will rocket if he has a good world cup.
Scores about 1 in 4 from the wings so should chip in with 10-15 goaLs a season.

Yossi is someone I initially didn't like, then got to like as a player and appreciate a lot, so couldn't part with him now, he's proven a good buy in my view and unless he particularly wants to go, we should extend the term of his contract, not give in to speculative bids or stories in the press etc.

No doubt the bloomin' yanks have gotten excited at the thoughts of baggin' £9m from the sale of him, but we all know what they can go do ;)

If we have money (depending on takeovers/refinancing/Barclays etc etc) I'd like to see us sign Krasic and Turan, with Yossi, Riera and Kuyt moving on.

We need to freshen up our attack/creativity big time, these lads have done well for us but it's patently clear they are not top level and have achieved as much as they are ever going to achieve with us. You have to be ruthless to be successful, fans favourites or not it's time for these lads to be moved on.

I wouldn't be too put out if Mascherano was sold as well, the need for an out-and-out defensive midfielder in the Premiership isn't really required for most of the games. None of the other top 3 use one anymore, it's a dated role when a more adept all round player could be taking up that position. No chance Rafa will sell if he's still here though. If Rafa does remain, we may as well sell Babel too as I can't ever see Rafa utilising him properly or getting the best out of him.

We do need money for players in the summer but we also need to move quite a few on as well. We're gone stale and we need a fresh impetus

Barcelona have the smallest squad in Europe and invest their money in youth from a very young age and just 19 outfield players and 2 keepers for the first team..... a model i think we should follow .
Quality not quantity and invest in the future ....

The Barca model would take years to come to fruition. Also they spend three times any other club on youth scouting etc, added to the added attraction they have for most Latin youngters, and the fact their youngsters actually get to play to develop makes it a difficult thing to implement.

Quality not quantity and invest in the future ....

I doubt you could get away with that in the premier league, there's a much rougher brand of football played here and I reckon the injuries sustained would rule out any such idea! It would be fantastic if possible though!

I think it is and it means buying quality players and the youths coming through have also got to be top quality and with smaller squad they will have to be given a chance .

Not sure I agree with Higuain or Silva being worth every penny m8...

Yeah, they do well in Spain, but there is absolutely no guarantee that either would crack England, particularly in Higuains case, where he seems to go missing in the big games.

Silva may do well, but he seems a little lightweight to me.

Plus, in this coming transfer market, I dont anticipate Rafa spending £20-£25million on any one player when we have so many issues to be resolved....

Yeah, he has a big reputation and in any game I have seen he looks a bit lightweight. As someone else mentioned, similar in style to Garcia in that gives the ball away a lot.

Not a player who will take us to the next level, but on a free and probably not astronomical wages could be worth a punt. Brilliant from set pieces which is one area of the team we have been shocking this season esp with Fabio out injured.

I think in that line ther you've said it all. This guy is hugely overated. I have friends who are Blackburn fans and they cannot stand him. He is extremely lazy and holds himself in far too high esteem apparently.

Hopefully with the news we've had today we won't be shopping in the bargain basement this summer.
