Setanta Sports News announces launch date i was reading someone talking about this in a thread on this site but can't remember what one but here it goes anyway.... Setanta Sports News has announced that it will launch on November 29th. The 24-hour channel will be available free-to-air on the Virgin Media platform, and on satellite. The channel will cover all relevant sports stories from the UK and abroad, regardless of whether the event is broadcast on a Setanta channel. Setanta Sports News is jointly owned by Setanta Sports and Virgin Media, and produced by ITN. Its EPG number on Virgin Media is 518. The satellite EPG number is to be confirmed. Geoff Hill, Editor-in-Chief, Setanta Sports News, said: "We want Setanta Sports News to be fun and engaging for the nation's sports fans. Viewers will get the sports news that matters delivered in a thorough, concise and accurate way, but this channel will be much more than a rolling sports news service—we want the added value of passionate input from fans. We aim to be alongside them at every major sporting event across the UK." Malcolm Wall, CEO of Content, Virgin Media, said: "This channel represents a new age for sports fans in this country. We're confident its energy will provide a fresh approach to sports news in the UK and by putting fans at the very heart of the channel, we think it will give us the edge with viewers.
Well its cant be much worse than SSN, unless its on sky, they barely mention it. I remember the WC, some of the top stories were some 20/20 cricket dirt....
Hey, good to see it being launched - may get Sky to improve their offering by adding a bit of competition etc
Well, if it's a 24h channel, I hope it's a genuine 24h live sports bulletin, and not the 6am-12am "24h" service that SSN provide.
I hear you mate ... the old Sky New repeat services would drive you nuts, I'd rather they did headline repeats then maybe interviews / documentaries etc to fill in the rest of the time, rather than that continued repeat crap.
There certainly is a lot of info to take in on the screen.I have also only been watching bits of it but I believe the other night they had Stan Collymore, Ron Atkinson, Rodney Marsh & Neil Ruddock on a Panel. Now thats not bad.
That certainly is an impressive lineup. Another thing to note too is that they'll be showing alot more goals than SSN will thanks to their contracts with most of the top European leagues.
nice one. wont be listening to ruddock. he's a disgrace, he didnt respect our club at all when you hear of the things he got up to on the pitch during matches, coin handlin etc etc.
