Now surely it won't take much to motivate the team for this one? The behaviour of Benifica was shocking, diving around looking for everything, kicking Torres everytime he got the ball and descending on the referee at every opportunity. They simply need to play at PL pace and we will win. However we have shown on more than one occasion this season our inability to perform as a team so God knows!!

The last time we played Benfica I was in New Zealand and I took these photographs on that day.

I was flying from Wanaka to Milford Sound that day. Actually the flight I was on was the first flight into Milford Sound for three days as the weather was so bad.

Before I left Ireland I had set my phone up to receive text messages with all the Liverpool match and news information. Just before departure I got the team news from Anfield. Milford Sound is a very remote. But I still expected that there would be GSM coverage there. It was to be 10 frustrating hours before I got back to civilisation before I found out the very disappointing result.

If we play good attacking football with two up top and can get a bit of passing rhythm going then Benfica haven't got a hope of staying with us! Think Masch is the obvious choice at left back and honestly don't have too many worries with him there, will get caught out of position but he's got the pace to make up for it!

No just pragmatic, I dont see us getting fourth we have a 5 point cushion over the bitters in 8th spot so barring a diaster we are in the Eurpoa Cup next season so may as well go into it reigning champs than scrape in through the league.

It may be the crap european trophy we dont want to be in, but defending the trophy psychologically will be better next season than thinking we are only in the Europa cup because we were too sh!te over 38 games to get into the CL.

Wouldn't be suprised if Rafa goes with The Greek tonight, to deal with Cardozo's aerial threat. Neither of the centre backs even challenged him last week and Benfica will pump the ball up to him at times tonight. Along with Luisao they have a serious aerial threat from set-pieces so we need to be careful.

Benfica will score goals but more importantly will leak goals so we need to have a go at them. An early goal will be great for us. Even when we had 11 players last week Benfica had a few chances yet failed to convert them, I will be suprised if they are as wasteful tonight.

I don't know what team Rafa will go with tonight, but I'm sure the players will be well up for it after the antics of their fans and players last week.

If he didn't speak out about Rafa etc, Riera would possibly have started tonight - Rafa could do worse then have him on the bench tonight.
