I mentioned this around a year ago, i'll see if i can dig up the thread. I remember Dub13 at the time had a reason for not doing so...

I've seen this function on boards, don't really get it tbh. Someone posts an opinion and then someone says 'thanks' for no reason at all, always leaves me bewildered

Maybe sometimes they look what they are saying..Maybe "thank you" isnt the right word they are using..But i can see why people who click it do it, because they agree with what the person is saying..Thats my reading of it any way..Doesnt really bother me either way..Just another button to click..:D

have to agree with Shay. just feel its a bit pointless. if you have a reason to thank someone just post it.

I think it has its purpose on forums. Not merely in relation to concurrent thanks, but also times when someone responds with a funny/good/ or relevant post and you simply want to say, without posting that you appreciate or support the comment...

I am true to my word.

I was doing my annual house keeping over the weekend and this was near the top of my list.I always update to the latest available version of the software we use first which is 3.8.Now there is no thanks hack for 3.8 and I tried the one for 3.7 and its not stable. So we will have to wait for a update.

Problem with that is you get lots of "+1" posts or "good post", "I agree" etc with nothing else contributing to the discussion in them. The "thanks" button is just a quick way of showing you agree with or like someone's post on a topic.

    Poor excuse Paul.

    http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=165673

That works perfectly on 3.8x, and is in the 3.8 mods section on vbulletin.org.

I am used to using this function and I think in comes in handy. There are a lot of posts I would like to show agreement for and I don't want to post just saying +1 or I agree. Also, recheck the breadcrumbs thread I made from the other day. I put in a simple link that'll position it just under the last post with no template edits.

I'd thank you, but... well, you know.

Edit: The only thing is that you will need a new button as the button that comes with it won't look right in this skin. Should be easy enough for someone to mock one up though if not do it yourself.

Ya, the one I linked to is the exact version we have running on ipb, and it works with no reported issues. There is a VB4 version as well, so don't go looking for the latest update or that is what you would get. The above one is for 3.8x and I run 3.84 so should be all good for here too.
