This story has done it's rounds before about 3yrs ago and even then there were a few who taught he was past his best, don't get me wrong he is a quality striker but at 32-33 I think he's past it to cut it in the Premiership so it would be just a cashcow deal imo!!

Cant have too much quality in the squad. Class is permanent form is temporay. If he is free then I say go for it.

There is talk of him retiring in some papers. We would be better signing Higuain and put him up front with Torres.

of course we would but just where are we going to pull at least 25m out of to buy him?!

lol we would also be better signing messi for the right, ribery for the left etc!

I'd love to see Higuain at Liverpool, perfect striker to play with Torres and it would be a feared partnership to at the least take pressure off Torres up front and give defenders another player to think about.

Its been a big problem for up and one that people thought Robbie Keane would sole but if we could get two up front who can cause people problems i think defences wouldn't have a clue how to stop us.

I have seen bit of Raul this season watching spanish football and what have seen was good, I would defo rather see him at the club rather than not as our striker options are limited at best if Torres gets injuried. could be another option, I know we don't have the money for wages but just saying

If you pay 25m you get a quality player. Or do you spread 25m around the team and get 3 or 4 squad players of which we have enough of them. I agree with Red Armagh we should be giving Pacheco and Kelly a run, we have invested heavily in the academy over the last 4 or 5 years and need to see signs of it paying off. I think there is money for 1 big signing this summer, i also think you could see 1 or 2 names move on to fund that signing, with players like Pacheco being used more.

HE could well be past it and might not make it but if we have very little money for transfers and he is free why not give him a shot even for a year. Might have something left in him.

If we were interested in Higuain then last year before he went goal crazy this season. now we wont afford him.

As for Raul, even if we get him on a free would we afford his wages? surely he'd be looking for 80k p/w min? and why would he leave Real to be on the bench in Liverpool? i just cant see this one being a runner to eb honest.

Theres something about Raul i dont like..He seems to have a say in the Madrid affairs and is a big personality in the dressing room, and when ever a manager is being shafted his name along with Casilas always seems to pop up.

He was a quality striker in his day.Now ask yourself this,if he is sopposed to have a contract with Madrid for life and if he still has something to offer why arent they willing to keep him?? Personally i wouldnt like to see him here..As Redarmagh pointed out he would block Ngog and Pacheco's progression..Also id say he would command a high wage and probally a signing on fee if we were to get him for "free" so thanks please.

But im sure someone like City or spurs will snap him up,just for the sake of having another striker in their squad.

He'd be worth a punt on a pay as you play type deal but I can't see it happening.
