IMO Steven Ireland is a great, if weird, player, and given the chance if we had the funds id snap him up in a second, dont think he fits into Mancini's style of play, any one else share my opinion

Can't see where is best position is to be honest. Does he have the tackling ability for Centre midfielder at the highest level, or pace and power to play of a front man. I dont think so. Not a wide man either. Similar style to Danny Murphy.

Very talented player but a big opinion of himself also.

Sorry to mention this as a replacement for Mascherano if he left in the summer

Isn't he just about to sign a new contract?

Brilliant player imo but City will never sell someone who's going to improve the first team of a champions league rival.Think his best position is the Gerrard role just behind the striker but he'd be versaitle enough to fill in on the left or right of a 4-2-3-1 if needs be.Deffo not a replacement if masch left though-totally different players.

They sold Dunne to Villa. I don't think I'd want Ireland though to be honest, I don't think he's good enough, but I could see Rafa liking him.

i'd take him in a second. he is a superb passer and has excellent vision. the only problem is this: where would he play. the only position i could see rafa playing him is left wing which is his 'i dont have any other position available' position as kuyt has the outside right posn sewn up til the stat pension arrives, ditto for masch and lucas in midfield. in the right setting and with the right manager he would flourish. he's def top 4 standard...lets face it he's more talented than song, dennilson, carrick, fletcher, anderson or lucas. he'd be wasted in our current set-up

    Over-hyped head-case.

    Why!?!

Irish players are rubbish, please stop mentioning them.

Masch isn't leaving. He's already said a few times recently that he wants to sign a new contract.

Harsh, I think Ireland is a very good player, it might be a nut off the pitch, but he's quite good on it.

    We don't need him anyway.

We need money first and then when we get that we need an experienced left back, an out and out left winger who is quality and another striker.

Wins award for 'daftest generalisation of the year' award. I dont think stephen ireland is rubbish, or james mccarthy, or kevin doyle either. i'm pretty sure anyone over the age of 5 who has watched the premiership in the past 5-7 years would say that neither richard dunne or shay given are rubbish. but thats probably just blind patriotism from me. And some people might thing john o'shea is rubbish but i dont - and i'd say a load of our supremely gifted liverpool palyers would love a few of his 4 or 5 premier league medals too.

Well i think Stephen Ireland had 4 good months, at the start of last season, and has done little to nothing since, Jmaes McCarthy has dont nothing yet, but could develop into one, and Kevin DOyle, sweet jesus if that is your arguement i fail to go on....

There is not a single Irish Player worthy of joining our squad at this moment.

Bit harsh considering Liverpool have a pool of 6 billion people to choose from whereas Ireland have about 4 million.

You say it as if it's Ireland's fault that they don't have better players, you can only play the cards you're dealt like.

my point wasnt that they'd improve liverpool. i respondede to the line 'irish players are rubbish' which is daft. have u actually watched shay given in,like, the past 10 seasons. or richard dunne in the past 5-6 years. never said anything about them joining liverpool, i was just responding to that stupid line. anyone over 4 who thinks shay given is rubbish knows sfa about football. ditto richard dunne

James McCarthy will be a very good player, pity we didn't get him though he is better off at Wigan now where he is guaranteed game time.

He is only 19 and has played over 100 times for Hamilton and nearly 20 times for Wigan - so he hasn't done nothing yet.

What a joke of a post.

Dunne, Doyle, Duff, Keane, & one of the best goal Keepers in Europe Shay Given are all good footballers some excellant.
