i'd like to see an attacking formation like tht, but every dog on the street knows he's not gonna drop either kuyt or lucas until one of 'em kicks the bucket, so expect more of the same really. the tragedy is the worse the situation has got the more negtive and defensive we become insterad of releasing the shackles coz we've nothing to lose and having a right go. yes me might conced, even lose, but we concede and lose anyway playing the crap we're playing, so i cant understand after 6 months of it he just doesnt try anything new. i'll predict a 1-1 here, we score first. pompey mite be a bit robust to try aquaman so lucas masch in midfield is a certainty. i was gonna say we couldnt possibly play as bad as we did agaisnt wigan, but ive done that b4 and its come back to bit em in the ass so i wont. reckon itsa draw

But more in a 4-3-3 with Masch as the 1 and only defensive midfielder with Aquilani just dropped of Gerrard which they would easily switch durning the game and Torres slightly a head of both wingers ..

I'd love to see this formation and team selection but with Rafa's mentality of trying not to concede rather than going out there and trying to score more than the opposition I doubt it'll happen...
yeah would be nice if rafa freshened things up a bit..even give carra a break and bring in nick the greek alongside agger. Our line up is getting very predictable now.

Would love to see Insua droped for any one at this stage. That is realy how bad I think he is and have been saying it since before christmas when Fabio was fit. Magic, Carra, The Greek, Agger (the greek deserves his place more then any other player at the minute) Not haveing a go at lucas but hope he is droped in favour of a 4-4-2 formation with Gerard Mach Aqua Reiera or Babel. Start with Torress and either Ngog or Babel along side. Not to impressed with some of Maxi's performances so dont think he should start. But any way we all know the team we are going to get.
I know this is a thread for discussion of whats the best team to put out & tactics etc but whats the point? We all know insua for some God for saken reason will start. Lucas as much as we all love a trier will still start. Maxi who is in a wet week but has been played twice as much if not more than Aqua will start. Kuyt will start. Babel or Riera will get the last 20 mins & thats about it. I think we'll either : 1) take the 3 points with an uninspiring display 2) Be as desperate as we have been last few weeks & lose or 3) only show any sort of urgency & attack in our game if we go a goal behind to possibly get a draw. Sorry if its pesimistic but at this stage can you blame me.
need a win big time.. hope aqua starts and stick babel up front wit torres but we all know tats not gonna happen come on the pool
Note to Rafa on the Pompey game: 1. Drop Insua. 2. Drop Kuyt. 3. Start Aquilani 4. Start Babel. 5. Dont worry about a team who WILL be relegated. 6. Trust your players to go forward. 7. Let them express themselves, remove the shackles. 8. 2 strikers please. 9. 1 def mid please. 10. And if a change needs to be made in the 35th minute, please dont wait until the 65th. That is all.

100% agree, if i see 2 lucas and Macro start tonight I think i'll go mad, but of course they will. Would like to see following Reina Glen---Skytel --Carra--Agger Gerrard--Aqua--Macro--Benny (if Fit) --Torres-----Babel But can't see Lucas Insua or Goldenballs Kuyt being dropped
You are forgetting about the broken foot injury that Martin Skrtle sustained against Unirea away. I think he is out until May.
