Think Rafa has been talking to del Bosque and they have a understanding that he wont be played unless he is fit and ready to play..

Baffled by this. Only last week Del Bosque said he hopes Liverpool rested Torres a good bit before the world cup and then when he has the perfect opportunity himself to ensure Torres gets a week of rest he calls him into the squad.

About 80% of his injuries have been coming back from Spain and you'd think for a friendly they'd blood a few of the less experienced forwards in case he doesn't make it to the World Cup

Injury on the way just as he comes fit, spain really need to revise their training program when it comes to Torres

Ill prob get savage abuse for this but fck Torres if he comes back injured. Hes been out too long this season and the club has invested time and money in geting him fit. He should think long term and miss this meaningless friendly, its not as if he'll lose his place and concentrate on his fitness at Melwood and be fully fit for the eun in and then head off the Africa

I agree! Why should he play in a friendly when the team who pay his wages, and have already went far too many games without him over 3 seasons after spain duty, are gently ushering him back to first team action!!!

Rafa, tell Del Bosque to fcuk off. Nando's only had 15 minutes or so, & as usual he'd probably come back injured, AGAIN!

Agree with this but i our own training programme cant be over looked i mean look at the amount of Muscle injuries our players have suffered this season?

Dont think he will be played i think he will be jsut brought over for bonding and such.........................

Many other players in his position would have walked to City/Chelsea/Barca long ago for bigger wages and a better chance to challenge for silverware. I for one am thankful he's still with us and I don't forget his contribution when he goes playing for his national side

we shouldn't let players hold us to ransom and i know that Rafa wouldn't. he's with us now, which is marvellous because he's the best striker in the world.
but if he hadn't have got injured with his country before, he possibly would have played more with us and we possibly would have been further up the league.
as i said, Rafa wouldn't let anyone hold him to ransom, so the day a player is disruptive and/or doesn't want to be there - they know where the gate is.

Ok ok, he's torres and he's the best in the business, but he should be treated like all of the other players.

And besides, the other players you speak about - i would imagibe Adebay-moneygrabber is in that category. Certainly wouldn't put nando in the same bracket as many of the money grabbers at City.

I hope there is an agreement in place that means he will only play for 45mins

Fernando Torres has been named in Spain's squad ahead of their friendly with Portugal next week.

The Reds striker missed the world champions' Euro 2012 qualifiers with Scotland and Lithuania last month but is now fit to take his place in the 23-man pool alongside club-mate, Pepe Reina.

Squad: Iker Casillas (Real Madrid), Victor Valdes (Barcelona), Jose Reina (Liverpool); Raul Albiol (Real Madrid), Alvaro Arbeloa (Real Madrid), Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid), Carles Puyol (Barcelona), Gerard Pique (Barcelona), Carlos Marchena (Villarreal), Joan Capdevila (Villarreal); Xabi Alonso (Real Madrid), Sergi Busquets (Barcelona), Santi Cazorla (Villarreal), Andres Iniesta (Barcelona), Xavi (Barcelona), Javi Martinez (Athletic Bilbao), Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal); Pedro (Barcelona), David Villa (Barcelona), David Silva (Manchester City), Fernando Llorente (Athletic Bilbao), Fernando Torres (Liverpool), Juan Manuel Mata (Valencia).

Hopefully he comes back without a injury because he seems to always get injured for them.

That doesn't sound good.I reckon they will give him the all clear and he'll come back to us injured again missing the next few matches.:(

Any time Torres has gone on international duty not fully fit he's been out for months afterwards, can't understand the medical staff allowing him to travel, surely not in his best interests.

I feel bad for Torres, many critics in Spain slated him over his lack of netters in the World Cup! I reckon thats why he had confidence issues(even tho he says he didnt)! Did you see how happy he was when he scored against west brom? Lookd lyk he won the Wc again!
