Surprised not to see a thread started on this already. Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on that move. 6 months loan deal. He got to wear the no#7 at Liverpool and now he will wear the no#7 at Celtic, he's no King Kenny but some feat all the same!

I was think its a better move for Celtic than it is for Keane. Then today Im thinking, he's 29 (30 in a few months), when the loan deal is over, if he is not gona get bored with going to the linkes of Falkirk twice a season and doesnt mind the misrable weather, he doesnt have to really compete for his place, he will be loved because he is the Irish Captain ..... he could have had worse moves.

Celtic are 10 points behind Rangers but have 1 game in hand. If he is key to them clawing back the difference and winning the league, he will be golden over there.

Im very surprised to say this but, with Keane signing for Celtic, Im actually going to go out of my way to watch them a little, the first thing I did was look up when the next old firm derby is - havnt watch one of them in years.

I think it should be a decent move for him, realistically he should rip the SPL up and as you say he'll be adored by the fans straight from the off. They signed dimanse camara from fulham aswell and a couple of decent center backs, hopefully they can turn a poor season around with those signings.

Speaking about Robbie Keane's time at Liverpool, 'Arry said a year ago today when he brought the Irishman back to Spurs: "I don't think he got a great crack of the whip there but that's up to Rafa Benitez, he picks the team and he obviously didn't see Robbie as a player who fitted into his system or a player that he particularly wanted."

Interesting. Taking a quick look at the appearance stats reveals that Keane made 19 league appearances in his brief time at Anfield, which included 16 starts in which he was subbed off 12 times.

This season at Spurs, Keane has made 20 appearances, including 15 starts and was subbed off 12 times.

A fair crack of the ship, 'Arry?

On the news at one on RTE the knob said Keane made a total of 15 appearances:confused: needless to say an email has been sent to address this issue for the 6 o clock bulletin and to make sure that its 28 and to dispel the myth of cracks of the whip.

Great move for Celtic - both on the field and in merchandising - not so for Keane I think.

Ok he will score goals and it will do his confidence alot of good but he should be really testing himself in the EPL not the SPL. After all he is now at his prime at 29.

The standard up there is very poor and even the Old Firm have fallen back from where they were. There's no big names playing in the SPL now like there was 10-15 years or so ago.

But this probably wont last too long either cos Keane will next have to move on to play for his favourite team in Spain...then Germany...then France....:D

I think its a terrible move for robbie, take celtic and rangers out of that league and its no better than league of ireland in my opinion, sure look at scott mc donald supposedly one of the best strikers up there and he has just joined middlesborough. Its defo a step down for the talla lad

Mc Donald only away to join up with Strachan if it was any other champion team/midtable prem club he wouldn't be going anywhere near them

Don't think it's a step down Bellamy went there for 6 months and look at him now. Going be great for Keane anyway going be loved there whatever he done. Stick Hibs/Hearts or Dundee United in league of ireland and it would be a 3 horse race

Ive no doubt robbie will score goals up there and he will be adored by the fans and guaranteed to play every week, but he is stepping down imo, bellamy was a different kettle of fish there wasnt a club in england who would touch him with a barge pole before he went to celtic, im sure robbie could have stayed in the pl

I dont see why people see this as a bad move for keane, he is a lifelong celtic fan, its not just pr, he will score goals he may win silverware and will play every week and i would imagine he will enjoy his football. People saying he should be testing himself in the PL but in fairness bar his spell at our club he has been there done that! he isnt playing towards a world cup spot and spurs imo wont be in the mix come the end of the season. Keane needs the fans behind him to be at his best and they will worship him up there like the pope!

    Best of luck robbie!

Fcuk me but was he not a life long Liverpool supporter when he joined us as well?? Can remember pictures of himself and friends at Anfield during the 90's and interviews with him about growing up supporting us and his idols being Rush, Barnes etc

BTW nothing against him at all hope it works out for him.
