Have said previously, its the decision to play two holding midfielders i.e lucas & masch against the likes of the wolves & Boltons of this league that have us dropping points. Id like to see aqua start with one of the two i've mentioned but preferably Masch as aqua will certainly join in with Gerrard & kuyt if he's up top. Id rather go with Ngog & rest kuyt with Maxi holding his starting place on the right this Saturday. Is Aurelio injured? I cant for the life of me work out how Insua is picked ahead of him.
Agree that we shouldn't need 2 holding midfielders at home against anyone. Defend with Reina, Degen, Carra, Skyrtel, Aurelio & Mascherano and attack with Aqualani, StevieG, Maxi, Riera & Kuyt. Replace with better alternatives as and when they are fit.
This has to be a 3 pointer for us. Can't take a draw at home. Would be nice for us to put in a good performance but can't see that happen. Will take a win no matter how it comes about. And if we do draw this I don't want to hear any of our player saying in the media how its good we have gone 6 games unbeaten and its a point gained not 2 lost, because thats just a pile of rubbish.
Bolton's main goal threat will probably be Gary Cahill from set pieces. They will pack the midfield no doubt. An early goal would be nice - not taking anything for granted on this one. They gave United a great game at Old Trafford this season. Aquaman should be back in the reckoning. Tomorrow is made for him to step up to the plate and show his worth. Hopefully Gerrard can lift his head up too and get it back to basics. Ive no doubt he will come good for the 2nd half of the season. Form is temporary - Class is permanent
i would love to see: -------reina------- degan--carra--greek/skyrtle----insua--- --------masc----aquilani--- maxi-----stevie-------riera--- --------kuyt--------- we should not need two holding midfielders against Bolton. And maybe even swap gerrard and aqualini in the above. however i know we will see both lucas and masc and carra at LB with maybe another defender or two on the wings coz everyone knows how dangerous these teams can be

Lucas and masch are certain starters, ditto kuyt and carra. rafa may feel its too physical a game to put aquaman in so i wouldnt even try to predict the 1st 11. at least bolton will try play football under coyle - his burnley team certainly did

thought we could wether the storm at wolves mid-week kick on and win the game but we were dreadful and to take a point was not good enough,bolton under there new manager will have players eager to impress so i would like to see us starting with a high temo to our game and if we score early can see us winning maybe 3-0.However as seems to happen in our games at home if we dont score early we start to lose confidence and the away side grow in confidence and start forcing us into making mistakes.With us looking to go for a high tempo game i would like to see one of the two holding midfielders dropped and for us to have a more attack minded side so the team i would like to see starting is RIENA CARRA KEBAB AGGER INSUA MASCH GERRARD MAXI AQUA RIERA DIRK
Just out of interest does anyone know how many games has he not chosen 2 defensive mids when both Masch and Lucas are available for selection? I can't see him not playing both tomorrow but we should win
