Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) Vs British Darts Organisation (BDO)

I seen there has been a bit of comparison in the other darts thread so decided to open this thread for people to discuss World Darts.

Mervyn King, Raymond Van Barneveld & Ronnie Baxter all moved across to the PDC and the 3 of them are ranked top 6 with Baxter 6th with £171,192 in prize money.

Co Stompe, Jelle Klaasen, Michael Van Gerwen, Simon Whitlock, Mark Webster, Gary Anderson have all moved over more recently and are all now sitting in the Top 32. Stompe, Whitlock & Webster all made the Semi Finals of the PDC World Championship this year.

Some £600,000 price fund difference between the 2 different World Championships. I wonder will it be long before we see the half decent players like Fitton, O'Shea, West, Adams & Hankey moving over to the PDC to compete for the big money?

Money talks soc...Thats my opinon any way...Think it wont be long before the BDO is bought out..The PDC tired to buy it out but they wouldnt accept there offer.

The PDC offers more money, more competitions and there is more entertainment in it..The PDC have SKY....The BDO have BBC for their world championship...Again more people will be attracted to Sky in my opinon, which means more revenue which means more money again.

Also the competition is alot better in the PDC..All the big boys are there now..Taylor,Barney,Jenkins,Wade,Lewis,Whitlock,Klassen and many more..So if you want to play at the highest level, you have to play these guys...The BDO cant offer that at the moment. They can however offer very good players, but sooner or later these players (who have ambition) will want to play in the PDC..

My final though is that it all comes down to money...

Sky have made the PDC what it is today! Showing tournaments all over the UK along with Dublin & Vegas. Reach a far greater audience and more money behind it!

The BDO i think only have the Lakeside on TV. Almost every major PDC tournament is televised.

The standard of darts in the PDC is top class aswell

I think BBC show the semis and final of the Winmau World Masters, I am not 100% on that but I think they do but your right very little tv coverage for the BDO.

as i said in the other darts thread the BDO is like a feeder to the pdc
all the top players eventually jump ship to the pdc. sky has made the
pdc what it is today but credit has to go to barry hearn who
is in charge of the pdc.

The pdc made 1 million pound profit last year the bdo made 16,000 profit
    that says it all.

Your dead right money talks and the PDC is the place to be. There is a bit of glitz and glamour about it with dancers and the ladies who escort the players to the stage. The entrances in the PDC are better, the interviews/stage/announcers/setup is better, everything is just streets ahead of the BDO.

Did you see Mervyn King in the BDO? He wore a bracelet and several sovereign rings yet as soon as he debuts in the PDC, all that is gone, more clean cut if thats the correct phrase for it.

Did you see tonight at the BDO on stage, the table has about 10 bottles of water on it where as the PDC has a jug of ice water which gets changed at every tv break & 2 glasses. Now bottles of water is here nor there of course but it just looks messy but again thats only my opinion.

They used to have a 'Night Of Champions' on Sky Sports between the 2 World Champions at the Circus Tavern in Purfleet. I remember games like Taylor Vs Burnett, Taylor Vs Barneveld & Taylor Vs Fordham.

With Hankey last year and Adams this year, neither of them would agree to a big match on Sky Sports under the PDC.

Remeber this game being billed as the biggest game in the world.the two best darts players against each other..was a decent game up till the break..Taylor winning 5-2 before Fordham had to withdraw.

since then Andy Fordham has never really recovered but guess where he's playing now, in the PDC....

Andy Fordham has lost some weight hasnt he? The camera went on him at the final in the Ally Pally. Colin Monk is another BDO head that moved over recently.

about 15 stone, the guy was seriously overweight, i think he weighed something like 30 stone, and thats not me taking the piss

the sooner the BDO ceases operations, the better it will be for darts as a whole

the PDC is so much better, the production values are better, the players are better, and above all, the money is better

the lakeside championship this year was a shambles, i only watched the final myself as the camera work was so poor, it was giving me headaches

the rumour is the final place in the PDC premier league will be offered to the winner of last nights lakeside championship, however,.... i cant see Adams joining the pdc, although, i cant see why not, he`d make more money getting hammered over there, than he would winning against the amateurs in the BDO

pdc all the way for me

Thats not necessarily true. The PDC recognise the work that the BDO does in bringing people into the game of Darts. Remember they do an awful lot of hard work at local and county level, and any player in the PDC literally starts in the BDO.

Dont get me wrong, I am much more a PDC fan than BDO, but even Barry Hearn doesnt want the BDO to go if he takes it over. They are a national organisation whereas PDC just look after the top guys.

To say the sonner the BDO ceases operations, the better it will be for Darts is just wrong

Sky done a interview with Andy during the PDC championship this year and he said he has lost abit of weight, but he has put it back on again..He said he is still a long way from being back to any shape in playing..

Since he has come over from the BDO he hasnt qualified for any tourament..hopfully things change for him, as it would be nice to see The Viking back in action soon at his best..

I really hope that Martin Wolfie Adams makes the switch someday. It probably
won't happen but I would like to see him compete against the best players
more often. He must be on a decent contract with the BDO.

I dont think Adams plays in that event for some reason. I am open to correction but I think he declines the invite to it each year.
