Liverpool have joined the race to sign Girondins de Bordeaux's highly-rated striker Marouane Chamakh, according to a report from The Times.

The Moroccan international has frequently been identified in the media as a long-term target for Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, and was said to have been the subject of an offer from the Gunners last summer.

The 25-year-old's current contract at Bordeaux expires in the summer, and he is free now to discuss potential pre-contract agreements to move to other clubs. Arsenal are also expected to continue their pursuit of the player

Liverpool have also been linked with Aston Villa duo Emile Heskey and John Carew as well as Real Madrid's Ruud van Nistelrooy as Rafa Benitez looks to reinforce his striking options.

Andriy Voronin, Ryan Babel and Andrea Dossena are expected to depart Anfield over the next month.

Never heard of him. Looking him up on Wiki - says he has scored a goal every 2nd game, not bad (ignoring the league)

I would take John Carew over Heskey every day of the week.

Surprised it took us this long to be mentioned. He is free in the summer and pretty much every clubs name will be mentioned.

Would be very suprised if we pipped arsenal too him as they have been linked with him nearly every week since the summer. Also west ham were interested in him but i cant see them getting him.

A goal every two games isnt bad, but its the french league so its hard to compare it to the premier league. But any one could be better than nothing i soppose and on a free if his wages werent too high, he'd be a decent signing.

Thats exactly what I thought. Fcuk. You can bet your life that Torres will be sold. If he is I can bet it will be against his and Rafas wished. Those pricks have destroyed us. Fcuk if we do a leeds, if thats what it atkes to get rid of these pricks and secure the long term future of the club, so be it.

I agree mate, I'll take relegation if it means them going, it kills me even paying for my match ticket as I know its keeping them, but a boycott will never work as somebody will always take your ticket.

I can't see Torres being sold. I think thats a little over the top. They're greedy not stupid. Their lives would probably be seriously in danger if they did. Worst case scenario they'd sell someone like Mascherano or Aquilani. It's hard enough for us to be reading about those *******s without adding drama to the situation ourselves

Money talks sadly. Lets just hope it's not a case of Torres wanting out.
