To be honest, I'd take a 1-0.

I think it's more important for us to keep a clean sheet than scoring too many. Our confidence at the back is shot and a clean sheet is well needed.

Lets be honest folks does it really matter what bunch we send out at the moment? we have lacked clout in front of goal and to be honest have been enormously unlucky with one thing or another. i keep saying to myself that someone is going to get a hiding but until we take our chances we will get hit with the sucker blow and confidence will plummet. Wigna is a game not for the faint hearted. We need to pull our heads out our backsides and get stuck in. Surely the team will want to make up for the second half against Arsenal which was amongst one of the worst i remember. Gerrard and Torres need to get on their game and stop sulking about, stop trying to do too much and have confidence in your team mates.

i don't know what to say for a starting 11 other than we really should be beating wigan at home. Lets see how this lot do

I really wish we had an option at left back instead of Aurelio but he's the best of a bad bunch. I also wish we had an option instead of Kuyt but Pacheco won't be thrown in and Babel and Riera even if fit have shown no desire this season. Unless this team is prepared to fight for themselves, the club and supporters we will continue to be beaten by clubs who show more desire and a killer instinct.

There is no way anyone can justify playing two holding midfielders against Wigan.
The system hasnt been working all season so if ever there was a game to change this and the next against portsmouth have to be it.

Defo need two strikers at some point in the game, for me I would start with these two and try and get some early goals then maybe rest Kuyt or even Torres and give Ngog some playing time.

I would be very suprised if this is the team tonight. Sure did Rafa not say decisions on Masch and Johnson were being made today? I thought he left his team selection until the day of the game so unless the source is Rafa then I wouldn't read too much into it. And surely Aquilani has to start in the middle tonight but I've given up second guessing line-ups long ago. Also Carra RB???? Please god no.

Looking forward to this one with the Shankly celebrations, also reckon it will be our first home league game in a long time that won't even come close to selling out, I rang up yesterday and pretty much most blocks still available.

It looks as though Benni will play behind N'gog, with Gerrard alongside Mash, and Fabio & Kuyt on the wings.

This, imo, is the way to go while waiting for Aquailani to fully, ahem, recover.

I think we're gonna see a much improved performance tonight boys, simply through the way Rafa has the team set up. (I hope Im not wrong with the way I think Rafa is gonna line them up).

I'll stand by my commetns on Kuyt.........12million stiker with no pace doing the same job Lawrence does for Ireland and could do for a tenth of the money for us......not good enough. You need real pace at the very top level - unless you are VERY gifted.

Don't think we were too poor in the first half - nerves are obviously getting the better of the lads and the passing is going astray as a result. Some very good delivery into the box by Aurelio, Ngog was unlucky with his last attempt and Kirkland pulled off an amazing save from Kuyt.

Desperately need to start creating and putting away more chances though - think we'll see Torres around 65 mins.
