Just thought id post this up. First time ive felt proud and delighted over our national team since 2002, looking forward to february when the Euro 2012 draw is made and we'll go on from there, Trapp has done alot for our team. After the 2008 campaign, if someone told us we would beat France one nil away and be in extra time with them in the play-offs i would laugh at them!!Fair play YBIG:D

Trap hasn't done us proud. What it has shown is that if the team had been allowed to play the campaign as we did tonight, then we would not have been in the play offs. We would have been watching Italy and France tonight.
Players were brilliant. Can't give any credit to Trappatoni for the way he has made us play throughout the campaign. Tonight showed that we were fit to play football with anybody and not just to contain a team and hope to score on the break.
Proud of the lads tonight and all the supporters who went to Paris but not of the management.

I disagree Martin, the attitude carried into tonights game could have been suicidal in other games were we dig grind out wins v certain oppositions.None of us taught for a second the players that play for us (most of who are in non effectual clubs in the prem) would have played like that in every game in our qualifying campaign.Tonight will be the defining moment in several players lives tonight, for some it will be too late.

Game in Croker was a prime example. If we had played like we did tonight in our the home leg, then we would be through tonight. I felt that in the home game we left Doyle and especially Keane isolated up front with the prime objective, not to concede a goal (even though we were at home). Watching the game on Saturday was terrible. Seemed like 9 of the players were instructed not to cross the halfway line.
Really enjoyed that game tonight. We didn't play any better teams in the group stages but unfortunately gave them all to much respect.
Tonight showed that we are not a bad team and certainly not as bad as Trapp has made us out to be.

Knowing the way FIFA work, I reckon both would've been seeded for the play off draw and would've avoided each other.

Correct - was based on World Ranking Position so never would have met

All in all, im still speechless about it all.

Ill say no more, than we can play football, but we are still third seeds (at present) for Euro 2012 qualifiers so we still have it all to do to qualify

Cant get carried away on back of one AMAZING performance but yes im proud to be Irish, and more proud to be an Irish National Team follower

Although I'm gutted over what happened last night, I don't think i've ever been so proud of the Irish team in the way they played...

Given is the only Irish player that would get into their squad... And we battered them in their own back yard...

If Trap lets them play like that (even for the home games) then it would nearly of been worth it cos we'll qualify for a lot more tournaments in the furute..

Does anyone know when the next rankings are out..

That was a hell of a game! I dont think we could have played like that in every game last night was a one off situation were we had no choice but to go for it! i think Trap has done well with the players we have. I hope he is still around for the euros.

Liam lawrence was super last night!!

We were brilliant last night and can people shut up withe their trap didnt do this or that. FFS we just outplayed one fot he best teams int he world for 120 mins and should of beaten them easy had we taken all our chances. We came within a whisker of qualifying for a world cup after being in a group with the world champions and then drawing the team who got to the alst world cup final and we were robbed by cheating - our team is not that good that we should be achieving these things, yet people are giving out - get a grip! When stan left we were in dire straits, now look at what we achieved!

Very proud and just so so sorry for the palyers. It will take a long time to get over that!

Very proud is right. The only players who werent involved under Staunton were Andrews and Whelan, so it was in effect the same team. To come within a whisker of making it is heartbreaking, but we have to take positives from it. Hopefully we'll get a decent draw for the Euros and get over the line and qualify for a major tournament where I think our wonderful fans belong. With young players like James McCarthy, Sean Scannell, Seamus Coleman, Owen Garvan, Cillian Sheridan coming through let's all hope the future is bright.

    think about those games tho..
we beat no one of any significance, and we barely scraped draws..
was a fairly drab campaign, but last night was fantastic.

Trapp can do a lot better than he has done, he made a limited selection even poorer by the choices he made. Im sure he could scout better too, and get over some grudges he has with a certain player(s).

France are probably the weakest defensive team we are likely to meet in a qualification match, when we went forward we had time and space on the ball, if we're playing smaller teams that are actually going to really get at us we wouldn't have been able to play like that! Its a tough one to call but every team big and small raises their game massively against the bigger teams. I don't think you could reasonably expect us to play like that every game.
Also feel that it would be an injustice to rob trappatoni of that performance tonight, to say that he had nothing to do with it is merely quoting the crap that Dunphy was spouting last night. I think he did a very good job and has brought us to the brink of qualification for the world cup, we could very well have made it where it not for two massive slices of bad luck going against us!

Was not quoting dunphy(dunphy cant' quote dunphy as it changes every week). was saying it as I saw it. we played worse teams than france and should have beaten them. Game last night was magnificent and as i've said i would rather watch a few games like last night and not qualify for the finals than watch what I have watched for the last 2 years.Game in croker was a prime example. if you are happy watching trap's tactics then fair play but I absolutely despised it and am delighted that he had no choice but to go an attack the French. Brilliant display which has reignited my passion for the national team(let's hope trap doesnt extuinguish it). Proud of them all.

Certaintly proud of the boys last night..They gave it all including their jerseys and Boots which was lovely to see as they acknowleged the travelling fans. Was great to see that some of the boys when let of the leash can play football such as Keith Andrews who i believe had a excellent game.

Things can look up for the European Championship if we perform the way we did last night.
