http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12098_5688364,00.html With Miller out of the squad, Trapp has decided not to replace him. Few lads Ive talked too say it could have been an oppertunity to bring in Andy Reid. Would have been a lot of hype over nothing IMO - Anyone differ much from this starting 11? Shay O'Shea - Dunne - StLedger - ZiZu McGeady - Andrews - Whelan - DuffMan Super Kevin Doyle - Keano (can I call him Keano now cos he's a Spurs player? ) COME ON IRELAND!
JUst seperate to my post above - there was a big discussion on this site a few months back, few lads said they were Liverpool fans and not interested in their country. Just wondering, will those lads support their country on saturday (obviously I hope so) and are any of you even going to the game!?
Haven't been a fan of the manager and his ways for a long time but credit where its due cos he's done well to put the country on the verge of the WC. I'd be more than happy with a 0-0 scoreline on Saturday and its a result we should be aiming for I'm thinking. Too risky to commit too many forward cos the pace of Henry, Malouda and Anelka could finish the tie as a contest on Saturday night if we leave too much space at the back.
HWa tdid people mean they are liverpool fans, are they irish? then support ur country for God sake! I will be at the game. The team more or less picks itself really except for the wingers. Id go: ----------------Given O'Shea---Dunne----St Ledger---**** head McGeady--Whelan---Andrews---Duff Keane------Doyle I rellay think Kilbane could cost us this game, he is SO bad its unreal. Personally id go Duff and McGeady although trap may favour lawrence to mcgeady for more defensive cover and dead ball set pieces!
I've been saying for a while that I think Keith Fahey should get a call up. A mate of mine is a pat's season ticket holder and said to me to have a look out for this lad ages before he went to birmingham. The guy can take a great free kick and I think would be a better option in the centre of midfield than some.
+1 I am pats fan meself, the chap is quality..has a great eye for a pass and can score great goals. had been doin well for birmingham up till he picked up an injury
I will be in the pub watching the games,i will be in the pub if they qualify for the world cup to watch their group games,i will be in the pub if the qualify for the knockout stages,i will be in the pub if they reach the final,i will be in the pub for the Phoenix Park welcome home party.I dont go to Ireland matches but i will definitely hoping they do the business.
I will be there on Saturday and in South Africa if we make it. The football aint been great, however I would have taken this position at the start of group. Its all about qualification. Fcuk Stephen 'Pink Range Rover Alloys' Ireland and the Andy Reid debate. Would be great to have both, but they wont be there. I agree Kilbane is major major liability, however there is no real alternative unfortunately Given O Shea St Ledger Dunne Kilbane Duff Andrews Whelan Hunt Keane and Doyle Hunt has been doing ok Hull, plenty of assists and is a good crosser. He would provide Kilbane with more cover than McGready or Duff. McGeady is more likely to lose possession and put the defence under pressure. I think it will be cat and mouse this weekend. The French are weak in central midfield (so are we), so the lads need to press them at every chance. The problem is though that they have so much attacking options, all it takes is one lapse in concentration and we will be undone. I expect Given to have a good game, thought he could have done a lot better for both goals against Italy. Allez les Verts
I think Hunt is better as an impact player. We wont try it at this stage in such an important game but I would lash hunt in left full if he can be thought a bit od discipline. We also have Finnan who can play right and O'Shea left.....
-------------Given O shea-------Dunne--st ledger------Kilbane Lawrence-----Andrews--whelan----Duff ------------Keane---doyle
Any pub serving decent beer and doesnt have someone who looks like this spa working behind the counter,i'm a happy man. Come on Ireland
We need a big game from our back four with the pace the attacking French will bring to this. I will gladly take a 0-0 draw now as i think Trap will want to contain France as much as possible and cut out any football. It wotn be pretty to watch but may be effective. There is always the question if we go 1 up do we sit back or try kill them game. Against Italy, we were far to lax at the back for both goals. We need to concentrate Team i would imagine will be: Given OShea Dunne St.Ledger Kilbane Lawrence Whelan Andrews Duff Doyle Keane Hunt is brilliant impact player and could see him coming on for Duffer after 70 or so minutes depending on how game is shaping up. Doyle will no doubt be the work horse with Keane playing up top by himself Hope beyond hope we dont concede
Given - Man City O'Shea - Utd Dunne - Villa St Ledger - Boro Kilbane - Hull Sub Lawerence - Stoke Sub Whelan - Stoke Sub Andrew - Blackburn Sub Duff - Fulham Doyle - Wolves Keane - Spurs Trap - Miracle worker To take that group of muck this far is some achievement, considering with the missing 2 mesiahs last time, we got no were near this close. I will be there as always, wondering how Kilbane gets away with making a living from this game.
