I reckon we need to get rid of a bit of dead weight in the squad and bring in a bit of quality and experience Out: Voronin-has failed to impress and shows no class or confidence in front of goal Degen-disaster with injuries since we bought him Dossena-Not good enough and we have two players capable of playin LB who are better tan him Riera-shows class at time but is never consistent In: David Silva-Would offer a wide attacking option and class that we lack at the moment Finnan-has been great for pompy since coming back and has the quality for the prem, good cheap cover for Johnson Agbonlahor/Bent-Good cover for Torres and also english players who would help us if the 6+5 rule came in. I worked out the prices on these at rough estimates and I reckon we'd have a net spend of 19 million which isn't a lot for the difference it would make to the team. We colud also do with a good left back of Johnson's quality but I can't really think of one, any suggestions?
I honestly do not think there will be much movement in January unless something drastic changes with the ownership of our club !
The figures dont add up for me - net spend of 9m? Ive put above in red the prices we would have to pay and would likely to receive. Thats raking in 15.5m give or take and spending 46m. which is a net spend of around the 30m mark. And no harm we dont have that money to spend
Sorry I meant to put down 19 million, I'd value voronin at 3 because he's shown that he could be decent in another team(Hertha Berlin), Degen at 3 because despite the injuries he's still young, Dossena at 5 considering we spent 7 on him and riere at 13 mill because he's improved since the 10 mil we spent on him. I had silva and finnan down at 25 and 1 mil but agbonlahor and bent at around 19. I'll edit my first post As for us not having the funds we have to get some sort of money from the 80 million coming in from standard chartered towards transfers especially considering the situation the team is in now.
Sorry man, but not even Peter Risdale would sanction 3 million for Vorinin or Degen. I would say 3 or 4 at most for Dossena. As for Riera, the only hope is that potential buyers have only seen him play for Spain and not Liverpool, he has done very little since he came to the club. In my opinion would be lucky to get 8 for him. Ryan Babel is the one player that I can't see making it at the club who could fetch a decent wedge.

This is a wind up surely? We will find it hard to get rid of Voronin for free in Jan because althought 1 or 2 clubs wud be interested in him for nothin he probably wudnt be willing to take a big wage cut. Same with Degen, and then theres his injury record. Cant argue with Dossena he is rubbish and we shud get a few mill for him. Def wudnt sell Riera, i think he is a very good player and wud like to keep him. We would be crazy to go in for Finnan, how many games has he played since he left us? How many games has he played this season for pompy? We hav enuf players constantly injured. And as for Silva and Agbonlahor/Bent well they wud each cost about £20 million roughly each We can only dream of havin those funds available any time soon unfortunately
dont need to wait till january, some very key games coming up, we need to go on a good run now right up to the january transfer window then start talking about transfers, between now and then lets just get behing the team as much as we can.
Can't see there being any transfers in January. Rafa's just going to have to get the best out of what he has. If they can get the squad fully fit then I believe we are more than capable of putting a good run together... but thats a big if at the moment.
