Has anyone else on the block booking scheme being told that they won't be offered tickets in the new stadium? I got a letter the other day saying only those who were on the scheme back in the old Lansdowne would be on it in the new stadium.

Its bollox to be honest. I joined it just as we were leaving Lansdowne and went to every match in Croker (friendlies and all). Its basically thanks for spending a solid fortune supporting the team in sh*t matches in Croke Park over the past 2 and a half years, now p*ss off!

Talk about loyalty to the fans!

They did tell everyone when we were moving to Croker that anyone who got block booking tickets for Croker would revert back to their old allocation when we moved back to Lansdowne,so hardly a surprise.

Still they should be better looked after. Theres 14000 extra seats in the new stadium so why are only 49 extra people getting tickets?

    +1

Thats the point of this. Of course the new Aviva could not cope with the demand that Croker's capacity can deal with but how they came up with 49 people is beyond me!

Yeah got my letter about this as well, my 11yr old son is gutted about this too. I am really pissed off about this, any time we got our invoice for the matches we had to fork out €200 for the two matches. The FAI dont give a **** about the normal joe who goes to the matches and freezes their arse of sitting in the seat as long they got their money.

In the same boat as the rest of you. Not to bothered though, its becoming an awful chore to go watch them play. Usually 1 decent game per year and the rest is thrash. I know its a terrible to thing to say but some of the shite I've witnessed in the last few years has drained my appetite for the national team. Let the glory hunters and corporates have the tickets.

Slightly off topic I know but if the FAI are owed or are due some grants in the budget they should be told to go F themselves (same applies to IRFU and GAA btw)

I agree with ya Barry 49 seems a small amount to come off the waiting list. But, i think more block booking seats will become available nearer the opening time of the new stadium. I would say the FAI are hoping some of the people on the waiting list will sign up for the vantage club and with that thinking they are not going to run the risk of losing a vantage club sale by giving someone a block booking seat. When the realise the vantage club seats are not going to sell and they also have a couple of thousand extra seats to sell, you can guarantee more will come off the waiting list. Although with the FAI who can tell!

FAI acting the booloxs again. We got tickets for years through the Eircom league scheme they ran after the 02 world cup. We got tickets for all the mickey mouse games, friendlies etc to ensure that we had our block book secured. Then for the France and Swiss games in 05 I think it was they tried to take them off us, saying they were origionaly for away fans. Bollox to that and the lads sorting the tickets went to a solicitor over it and we got them back but in a different part of Landsdown. The FAI are nothing but greedy b**tards, is it true for the Croker tickets the GAA only get €15 per ticket as rent and the Fai get the rest.
Personnally I jacked in going becasue they were ripping us off big time. Like to see Italy in Bari was €10, Bulgaria somethin like €2 and for a cheap seat in Croker 50 odd.

I am in the same boat. Paid €70 per ticket for every Croker game and have now been told to fup off!!!
I must be honest and say i am not too dissapointed about it though as it was often very hard work watchin some/most/almost all of them games.
Will they come back cap in hand lookin for their €70 per game when they cant sell their vantage club allocation???
I think i will be putting my money to better use!

    Any suggestions?;)

Got the same letter. They're holding on to tickets for this vantage club shite. Was drinking the whole day beside their stand in the Croke Park hotel the day of the Italy game. Didn't see one signing up despite the 3 staff members (all English) trying to sell them!!

I wouldn't give that shower a penny. Got screwed over by them about 7 years ago and swore never to go to another Ireland game again. Nigeria 2002 was the last.

    Agree 100% mate.

I should go on record at this stage though and say, I'm not caught up in this ... couldn't even get on the waiting list when I tried a few years ago, although have gone to almost every match in recent years, friendlies or competitive games and paid my way to all of them.

The thing that amazes me though, is that they didn't try this tactic sooner ... it's probably the worst kept secret in Ireland, that they are not making anywhere near their anticipated corporate sales etc.

The FAI have always been a bunch of small minded, miserable gits in my view...

If there's enough people effected, why not go picket the FAI offices and get a few journos down there to take photos and give the FAI a bit of the publicity they deserve ?

Yeah, got the letter myself at end of last week. I am on the waiting list since June 2006 and who knows how much longer I will have to wait.

To be honest, I am in agreement with one of the previous posters; I am not really crying about it. Of all the matches I went to in Croke Park, the only one which was really worth the €50 was the the Italian match last month (and hopefully the French match next week).

I got the same letter. I was invited out to Lansdowne Road a couple of months ago for a look at the new stadium and for them to give me the hard sell on the Vantage Club. I told them on the phone that there was no chance of me signing up for it but they still offered the tour and because I was out of work at the time I said I'd have a look.

Your man told me that there were 9000 premium seats in the new stadium, which pushed the amount of general admission tickets back towards that of the old stadium. I think he said the amount of tickets in the block booking allocations were around 26000, which I suppose makes sense.

But at the end of the day part of his hard sell was to offer me 2 general admission block booking tickets if I signed up for 2 tickets to the Vantage club, he even sent me an e-mail saying this, so they're not bothered paying any attention to the list. I told him to shove it but it probably goes a long way to explaining why only 49 people have got tickets off the waiting list.
