What would be the minimum age this would be suitable for assuming a game like Mario Kart was purchased with it? My son is nearly 5 and we're 50/50 thinking about getting him one for Christmas. Upto a few weeks ago I would have thought maybe it was not suitable for a couple of years but now I think it may provide more stimulation than TV etc during winter months. NB - his time on it would be strictly policed.
I think it would be good mate, on a side note i can get it chipped for ya if ya like any game ya want
Very good idea for kids,My 4 year old has one and the games are all suitable and are of the usual tv charachters, postman pat, peppa pig, bolt etc. If its only for kids of a young age then a ds would do and not pay the extra for the dsi,you dont need a 4 year old to be messing around with cameras etc. best deals around seem to be: Smyths,Ds,accerssory pack and 4 games from the 15 quid line for 150.Or 115 for the ds itself. Xtravision,DSI plus one game for 175.
Thanks Guys. You're swinging my mind in favour of getting one for him. Smyths have the DSI, a full price game and accessory set (case etc) for 189.99. They have cheaper bundles with 14.99euro games. Would MArio Kart be a good one to get with it? He's probably gone past the Peppa Pig, Postman Pat stage.
Take Podge up on his offer Walter, get it chipped, saves you a fortune in games Don't ask me what it entails but one of my friends got it done for his son and hes delighted with it
Its very easy to do,. you just give myself or podge a list of whatever games you want, we stick them on a game disk that looks like the DS game or DSi Game, and you stick it in, and bibs your uncle, its very handy, saves a fortune, i done it for my little brother, have fifa10 on it and everything.
Taking everything into consideration is the DS Lite a better option so than paying extra for a DSi? I understand battery life is poorer in the DSi also.
The DSlite and The DSi are the same thing, bar the camera, and that the DSlite cant play the games that are for the DSi because it uses the camera and its software for some of the games,. but for a young child, id save the money and go for the DSlite, speaking from experience,. If you plan on using it I would go for the DSi as the camera and voice editing mic are good fun, and you could put pictures and voice recordings on for the child. Photo and voice editing, might prove more stimulating than tv and certain games too,. Conclusion both are acceptable, one has a camera the other doesn't. And either way nobody will be disappointed,.
Cheers - you answered alot of q's I had there! Also thinking of getting one but not sure which one. A few more questions for you: Whats the difference between the DS and DS Lite? Can you play DS games on all three platforms? Have you got access to most games to put on a disc?
if you know anyone going to America they might be able to pick you up one alot cheaper then here. just order a new charger for about €10 online and away you go.
Excuse my ignorance.what is this "chipped" and what does it entail?.My 2 have a ds each and it costs a fortune on games
Lads, could someone please tell me if you hear of any decent deals going on the regular nintendo DS. Preferably with no games at all. I have to grab one for someone for crimbo, any advice would be very much appreciated, thanks
Cheers buddy, nice one for the offer. But its a crimbo prezzie so better get a brand new one. Best price I've seen so far is 120 notes.
